We have lived in Florida for 20 years and visit all the theme parks.
The last time we went was the week before they closed King Kong.
We did Shrek 4-D, Twister, saw the Blues Brothers, Earthquake, Jaws, Men in Black, Back to the Future, E.T. Adventure, and Terminator 2: 3-D.
It was a fun day but it seems tame compared with years ago. Either I am getting old or used to the rides.
We ate at Mel's diner and really enjoyed the Rock'n'Roll band playing outside. I sang and we danced.
I do prefer SeaWorld and Busch Gardens to this park. Do it once and enjoy it, then check out the others.
I think this will be my last visit.

Living in Florida it is not unusual for us to drive up to Orlando every 2 months or so. We have annual passes to Sea World and Universal and get the Florida resident deals at Disney. With all of the points I get for staying at hotels for business, it is a cheap get away for a weekend. Lately, we go to Universal Studios much more than Disney. My two sons are at the age (5 and 7) that they like the rides at Universal much better. I think for young boys, Universal's rides do appeal to them much more. Shrek, Jimmy Neutron, ET, Spiderman, etc. The food at Universal is not bad and at night, we usually go somewhere in the International Drive area.
Sea World is my personal favorite up in Orlando. I think it is very educational. I enjoy spending a day there every few months.

Universal Studios in Orlando is a great theme park for the whole family. It is located near Disney World, but it is much cheaper and provides more thrill rides. The park is split into two sections, the original park and the Islands of Adventure. Most of the thrill rides are at the Islands of Adventure and the original movie based attractions are on the other side of the park. My favorite ride was the Dueling Dragons roller coaster. I strongly recommend getting an express pass as it will allow you to do more in one day than you could normally do in two.
