I've tried a few different gyms in Central Florida, including Lifestyle Family Fitness. The Y is the one place I've stuck with. I mostly use the downtown (Mills Ave) and Winter Park locations. The standard YMCA membership package gives you access to all of the locations in Central Florida.
One of the things I appreciate most about the YMCA, besides their helpful staff, is the FitLinxx system. This automatically tracks some of the weight machines and adds your workouts to your online tally. You can also log your workouts manually. Even though the design and interface of this web feature leave loads to be desired, it's been very helpful to me in staying motivated and keeping track of my workouts.
There's plenty of equipment, especially downtown, and the pools, Pilates classes, aerobics and other features pretty much justify the $57 single membership fee.

Great Unitarian church in Orlando. At the church there's always something interesting going on, including useful and interesting lectures, a book club, and movies (they are showing Fahrenheit 911 this month). The people are very inviting and in love with diversity, like all good Unitarians.
For those not in the know, Unitarians do not have to be of any particular religious persuasion (or any persuasion for that matter). Sunday services are about philosophy, history, religions, and current affairs.

My family and I love Theatre Downtown. We practically raised our boys there as volunteers. They do fabulous shows. Be sure to see A Christmas Carol. Nobody does it like Fran and Frank. It's sure to ring in your holiday season. Love, The Bells

Stepping Stones aids handicapped and disabled people by providing a variety of mobility devices and equipment at low or no cost. They have a large warehouse with a variety of equipment, that a person may purchase at extremely reasonable cost. We have also heard of occasions where they have made gifts to needy disabled people who were unable to provide for themselves otherwise.
We have purchased a few items from their warehouse, the quality of the items has been great, the prices were wonderful, and the staff there were all very pleasant to deal with.

I have read the previous negitive review about Bruce and I can relate to what is written but with a different therapist. I went to another therapist when I first set out on getting help and found the experience to be wretching and pulled out after spending and wasting thoulsands of dollars. I was referred to Bruce and have found him to be helpful. He has allowed me to feel good about myself and help me lick an addiction. I still have alot to do but I feel with his help I will get there. I recommend Bruce!!!!

We had to call the local ambulance service when my husband had a heart attack. The ambulance and paramedics arrived very quickly, and took excellent care of my husband.
I rode up front with the driver on the way to the hospital. She was a sweet lady, and did her best to try to ease my mind and calm me down during this highly stressful occasion. I could hear the paramedics in the back of the ambulance speaking with my husband, and they too were wonderful - they really put my husband at ease & had him laughing and joking around with them by the time we got to the hospital.
Upon arrival, they were very prompt, yet so careful about getting my husband out of the ambulance (he's a paraplegic, so it is a bit more difficult with him) The ambulance driver took care of her required paperwork, but then hung around the ER for a little bit with us, just to make sure that everything was OK.
I know you don't always have much choice in the matter, and no one WANTS to call for an ambulance service, but if you HAVE to, take comfort in knowing that these folks will take great care of you & your loved ones!

Many of us can go on about the history of Altoona, PA., Napier, IL. or Poughkeepsie, NY. ... well not everybody, but some. But how many people in Orlando, or Central Florida know anything about their hometown??? Chances are VERY VERY few know anything other than what happened in Southwest Orange/Northwest Osceola counties. Yes there was a history in B.D. (before Disney), a rather dynamic one at that. Every newcomer and "pure Floridian" should visit the History Center at least once and get to know your region! How can we shape Central Florida's future if we don't know its past!!
