Great used bookstore that specialized in Mystery and Suspense. Good variety of paperback and hardback novels including first editions and autographed books. Semi-expensive depending on your purchase. This is not a bookstore that has heavy foot traffic. Very well-organized and clean. Helpful staff that will aim you right in the direction you are looking for. Lots of parking available in an older complex on the outer edge of the city of Orange.

This bookstore is a must for all mystery and dark fantasy book lovers. Ed and Pat Thomas have been running their store for more than 20 years and really know their books and authors. In fact, they average more than six book signings a month and pull in everyone from long-time favorites to new up-and-comers. (Dean Koontz even dedicated one of his books to them!) They specialize in signed copies and hard-to-find books.

Book Carnival is a quiet store lined with shelf-after-shelf of plastic-protected books. It is a rare bookstore! First edition mystery, fantasy, and fiction line the neat shelves. Well-known authors who make only one stop in Orange County will come to this store. The owner knows his stuff, has read his books and can chat with you about the fine details of collecting first editions. First rate, first class store! Highest recommendations! Not a store to come and read in the aisles, but a store where you can come to admire what you would love to buy for your own collection.
PROS: First rate, quality offerings; helpful staff
CONS: Can't think of any! Really!
