I've eaten in alot of restaurants from coast to coast, down south all the way to Key West. Sure, Ben Moore's doesn't look like much, but that's what keeps it a haven for the regulars whom are consistently treated well. Most of the bad reviews seem to come from the cafe and not the dinner restaurant located in the back. I've been a waitress in this town, and if you come in at the same time as the notoriously BAD TIPPER STATE WORKERS, you probably won't get great sevice from the harried staff. Try coming for dinner, tip well (the menu is very reasonably priced) and you will have a great experience. Pros: best and cheapest seafood in town Cons: all the cheapskates that annoy the staff

This place is another favorite hangout for the locals. It has been around forever and the two waitresses, who may be sisters are semi-celebrities, known to be blunt and sassy. I've heard they are the inspiration for the surly smoking aunts in the Simpson's episodes. Don't expect anything special here, especially the food.

Stuck and starving on I 5, I pulled off and asked where were the oysters. Sent to another place which was closed. A person on the street recommended Ben Moore"s. I sat at the counter, listened to election returns on NPR, and had some of the best food of my life. Pros: casual spot with fantastic owner/chef Cons: employs family when he isn't available.

For one thing, when you call to try and pick up an order the lady who picks up acts as if you are an incredibly rude and thoughtless person wasting her time to talk about something as trivial as picking up food at a restaurant. The service there is horrible, their is only one waitress who never smiles, will ignore customer concerns, and refuses to oblige to any simple requests you make. The restaurant is ugly and the food is definitely not worth the rude service. Cons: Service,

Horrible, horrible, horrible... That is the only way to describe my experience at Ben Moore's, and it is an understatement. I have traveled all around the world and it was here at home in Olympia that I came across the rudest waitress I have ever met. She had a horrible attitude from the moment I set foot in the door and it just got worse from there, at times she refused to make the slightest acknowledgment that I was speaking and would walk off mid-sentence. The food was NOT good (undercooked pancakes and french toast), the hot chocolate was brown water, and the whole meal was almost unbearable because of the way we were treated. I have NEVER complained about a waitress, I was one myself for several years! But I felt compelled to go to the owner on this one. The owner, however, does not even resemble a sane person. He proceeded to scream at me to ?get the hell out? of his restaurant and let out a slew of curse words. He got in my face trying to intimidate me as I spoke to him VERY calmly. I felt physically threatened and his psychotic demeanor led me to believe that he was going to strike me, I kid you not. It may sound like I am making this up, I wish I were because it ruined my entire morning, but this was by far the worst experience I have had eating out. I would suggest that anyone reading this that has a problem with men berating women in public for voicing a complaint, not visit this establishment. It was not only bad food and bad service; it was scary and demeaning. Cons: rude owner, terrible service, undercooked food
