I don't know if I dined at the Timber Mine on an off night, but I was less than impressed. The decor was cheesy and the food was mediocre. I have a feeling that the people who dine at this restaurant and love it don't get out much. The salad was a joke; iceburg with peas and a slice of beet. Really? I ordered a side of lima beans and it was served as a slimy soup. My steak (tenderloin) was overcooked, and the mud pie wasn't mud pie at all, it was more like a coffee icrecream cake.
The service was pitful. I won't be eating here again.

Great service! The tenderloin and crab was outstanding. The way they cut the crab made it easy to eat with no mess. Heard good things about the prime rib but have not tried it yet because their filet mignon (Gold Rush) is always good smothered with sauted mushrooms and onions. The only cons for me are that the salad is rather plain and there is no soup option. 30-minute wait during peak hours. 4.5 stars

Kinda pricey, but your money buys you kitschy western decor and skilled attentive service. The beef and seafood combos are in the upper $20, but normal portions of beef(1/2 cut) will be under $20. Includes salad, and a side of starch or veggies. Salad is standard food service chopped iceberg and carrot/red cabbage slivers. Baked potato is pretty good for foil wrapped. Fries are OK. I think the Prime Rib is the your best best. Bar service is billed separately from meal. Service is EXCELLANT. Wait staff is friendly, very knowledgeable, and on the spot. Lobster was generous size, Pacific, not New England. Fun bar/waiting area, with lots of stuff to ogle(claw foot tubs filled with toys- PEZ, Beaney Babies, key chains). Mine dining room is very dark, but adequate lighting at booth tables, even for older eyes. Just down the street from the Eccles Dinosaur Park.
Pros: Service.
Cons: Can be busy during ski season weekends.

I own an angus ranch in Montana and raise restaurant quaility beef. The steaks I get at the Timber Mine are the best. I bring clinets and associates in from time to time and take them there. After all it is a steak house and not a veggie bar. Kudos to the staff whho are the finest servers in the valley.
if one thinks this is expencive go to Dallas and eat a tough horse steak for 50% more!
Pros: Ambiance, Tables, privacy
Cons: picky customers, nothing with the staf

Nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The breaded mushrooms are a must! The selection of food is very sufficient, but why get anything but steak? Drinks are always available and the service is perfect - meaning the waiters are available, but don't interfere with an enjoyable meal. The prices are high, but I believe every penny is worth it. Never a waste to go here!
Pros: Steak is perfect, appetizers a delight, excellent dining

Along with the setting the food tastes great! Little on the pricey side for what you get - Little or no veggies- this is for meat lovers.
