I have to admit that when I walked into the waiting area of the Prairie Schooner I wanted to walk right back out. The waiting area is lacking and leaves much to be desired. We sat for 10 minutes before a waitress came over (btw, the place was about 1/2 empty on a Saturday night) at which time we were taken to our table; I believe that first impressions are very, very important.
Luckily I found the restaurant itself to be very unique and cozy. The salad was poor - iceberg out of a bag with a little cabbage and peas mixed in. I expect more from a "fine dining" restaraunt. I ordered the marinated chicken and au gratin potatoes - both were delicious and made up for the mediocre salad.
The service was wonderful.
Pros: Great ambience and service
Cons: salad not so great

We loved to take visitors to this place to eat when we lived there and always made sure to reserve a wagon table. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere very unique and the kids love it!

This is our family's favorite restaurant. We eat at the Prairie Schooner regularly. The Atmosphere is rich and wonderful. Tables are decorated like covered wagons (very private-with a lantern inside that can be dimmed). Old time music plays in the background. The tables are circled around a campfire, small lights twinkle from above to look like stars and the campground is surrounded by life-like wild life. It is a beautiful atmosphere, the waitresses treat the patrons like gold, and the food is Fantastic. Our family members are all steak eaters, and we have never been disappointed by the quality of Prairie Schooner's food. There is no going away hungry in this establishment. If you can find the room-I also recommend the Mud Pie for dessert. It is fantastic. The only problem/complaint is Prairie Schooner fills up quickly and if you don't get in early, you may have to wait a while for your table-so plan ahead. Extremely popular restaurant in Ogden. 100% Recommend this restaurant!
Pros: Food is Great! Very Romantic Setting. Waitresses and Owner take wonderful care of customers.
Cons: Long lines, get in early or you may have to wait a long time for a table.

I really love this restaurant for it's theme atmosphere. The outdoor area is set to an old west style facade and indoors is a prairie schooner wagon setting. Each booth is a mock covered wagon and the decor resmbles a campsite that the wagons surround. The food is good, but it is expensive so it may be for special occasions rather than a typical night out. Definitely worth at least one visit.
Pros: Good food - great atmosphere - private - romantic
Cons: Expensive

PROS: Atmosphere, food tastes great
CONS: Maybe wait time at dinner.

The Prairie Schooner Steak House is Utah's and probably America's best kept secret. The food is prepared perfectly, served promptly and becomes the most delicious feast you have ever encountered. The wonderful western ambience delights both young and old. Spotlessly clean and always friendly, take family or friends, you'll wish you lived nearby so you could eat there more often. I truly believe they have the best steaks in America.
Pros: Dining perfection, Clean, Friendly

Prairie Schooner is the place to go for special occasions. It's expensive but the food is good and so is the service. The best thing about this restaurant is the ambience. With the chuckwagon seating and the simulated campfire setting (there is an actual campfire) you feel like you're out roughing it instead of dining at a restaurant. I was so comfortable and so much at peace, that I didn't want to leave after I had finished my meal.
Pros: Ambience, Service, Quality
Cons: Expensive
