Grape leaves has delicious middle eastern food. The atmosphere is small and cozy. The combination plate is amazing, it comes with hummus, falafel and babaganoush. I would also try the chicken kabob dinner. The food is exceptional.

Petersen's is in my oppinion the greatest ice cream in the world. It has been a Chicago land and especially an Oak Park/River Forest institution since 1919. Their product is simply much richer and more flavorful than anyone around. Oberweis Dairy is good, but Petersen's blows them away when it comes down to pure taste. Also, a lot of people have said that Homer's in Wilmette is good, however I find their ice cream to be too icy and less creamy than Petersen's. My only complaint is purely cosmetic. The ice cream parlour could use a facelift, but as long as the ice cream is this good, I don't care!
Pros: Rich, creamy, classic
Cons: NONE!

There are two words in the English language that could send me into a state of frenzied excitement. Those two words would be ICE CREAM. If only this place would serve my other favorite word, PIZZA, then I would be in Heaven. This is a very cool and popular place in Oak Park. They have that old fashioned appeal, friendly servers and some good ice cream and sundae creations. They also serve food, but who needs food when you have ice cream!

I moved just down the street from Al's Grill and by my 3rd visit I was considered a regular. The food comes hot and fast and the setting reminds me of a simpler, friendlier time where people know your name. I bring all my out of town guests here for breakfast/lunch and all agree that it's a nice little place on Madison Ave.

The doctors are very patient with my paranoid, detailed questions. Dr. Haukness is very thorough and great with my daughter. I also appreciate the comforting nature of all of the other doctors I've dealt with.

Each of us tried a salmon dish: salmon in parchment with seasonal vegetables and red potatoes as well as salmon on grilled plank. Both were delicious and tender. The cost was remarkably lower than expected for such high quality food. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and is kid friendly too.

More
When I first moved to Oak Park, I was fortunate enough to live less than a block away from this comfortable restaurant/bar, and it has been a favorite ever since. I heartily recommend it due to its vast array of domestic and imported beers (including a good selection of rarities and microbrews) and its seafood entrees—it’s a great spot for a casual dinner or to start off (or end) a night of drinking. They also serve popcorn as a free appetizer, which is a plus in my book. Some dinner entrees are a tad on the pricy side ($15-$25), but you can land one of my two favorite sandwiches there—a Murphyburger or Pisapollo (grilled chicken with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce)—for under $10. Whenever I have visitors from out of town, this is where I often take them if they want to dine out.
Also, Poor Phil's is smoke-free indoors, which is a plus if you're going drinking with someone who might have allergies (or hates the smell of smoke).
