Barbara's Bookstore is a nice alternative to the huge chains like B&N or Border's. Barbara's started out in Oak Park many years ago, and they are still going strong. They always have a lot of titles in stock, and tend to carry a few more "unknown" authors than you would find at the large chain stores. In addition, they always have some kind of sale going on, so you can find discount books all the time. It's a nice place to go and browse for books.

I've been to Hemmingway's Bistro the other day and I really can say that it's a good place to spend some time. Nice mood and good food is the least I can say. You really should be there at least once in your life.
Best regards,

If you have any interest in the work of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright's work, this place is a must see. It is one of the more interesting tours you can take.
In it you can get some real insight into how his vision evolved in the twenty years he lived here.
A high point is visiting the children's playroom. The arched ceiling, the leaded glass windows in the treetops, the balcony make for a memorable space.
Wright was one of the century's most influential architects. It is worth the visit to see the place where he lived and worked for years.

I've been getting massages at A Matter of Style from Gayle - her hot stone massage is amazing! She is very friendly but matches your mood, so if you just want to relax and not chat, no problem. She always asks about how much pressure you want, which is great. With other massage people, I have felt pummelled and beaten OR barely massaged. She uses candles and music for relaxation. I like the citrusy tangerine massage oil, and you can choose what you want! So, Gayle is highly recommended.
Pros: Gayle customizes her approach to what YOU want
Cons: You can sometimes hear the people in the hallway

Dr. Sassetti is kind, knowledgeable and extremely personable. Both my daughter and I see her and we trust her implicitly.
My 7-year old came out asking when her next visit would be and THAT is a near miracle!

More
Khyber Pass my favorite Indian restaurant in Chicago, and the only Zagat rated one I am aware of. In my experience, the staff warms up if you visit there often - they are extremely proper and polite people, who are tremendously considerate. I think the maitre d' looks like Sinbad The Sailor?s older brother, don't you? Sinbad is a swarthy and handsome man.
Now, about the food.
If you cannot decide what to order, have the buffet - all of the right paneers are present and accounted for, along with the curry dishes, saucy sauces and great soups. Tandoori chicken with lemon wedges and onions are brought to every table, for whoever orders the buffet (and so are warm papadums). The Saag Paneer is perfect - the right amount of spicy and smooth. The samosas are always great but I favor their vegetable fritters because the crunch is perfect, never soggy or overcooked. Good chutney - you'll like it. Personally, I would walk on broken glass for their Rogaan Josh (lamb curry). If you don't order the buffet, and pick from the menu, you will love yourself for being so clever. Have the fish curry from the menu - it?s a light filet on the mild side, with a hint of sweetness. The assorted breadbasket is nice, too. Plenty to share and that's the point - it's about sharing at Khyber Pass. I never visit in a party of less than three. We linger over Kingfishers, watch the belly dancers (kids love that part) and then make room for the mango ice cream and rice pudding.
Khyber Pass is inexpensive. The decor is better than most. Cliched, a little? You bet. Is there something wrong with that? Smile, eat up, and enjoy yourself once in a while!
Pros: Lots and lots of great food, and quick service.
Cons: I smell like curry when I leave.

Erik's has been serving excellent satisfying sandwiches for years. Its sandwiches aren't for those interested in low-fat, low-carb diets, but they are delicious. There is also a bountiful salad bar. Erik's is self check-out, bring a number to your table, and a server will bring you your meal type of place. Don't forget the free chips bowl by the check-out! On the family-friendly aspect, children can roam freely in the restaurant and are given crayons and paper to play with. All-in-all, you can save on tips and enjoy a great meal with you family at Erik's.
