Unfortunately, not everyone does get to choose, but if you do, choose Alta Bates. No great revelation, I know; it's been called the East Bay's baby factory. But we'd also heard some disappointing comments about Alta Bates recently -- that private rooms were hard to come by, that some rooms were not only shared but shoddy, and that service wasn't always friendly. Based on the one data point of our very recent experience, though, we were thrilled with every aspect of having our son at Alta Bates. The delivery itself went very smoothly, but I felt confident that had problems arisen, we would have been in very good hands. Afterwards, the three of us stayed in a spacious, very comfortable room -- with a view of the Bay! The staff was so eager to help it was almost embarrassing, and the food wasn't half bad. Karen recovered very quickly, but when asked if we wanted to go home early, we said we preferred to stay!
Of course, we've had positive experiences elsewhere, but I'm happy to say that our third birthing center-experience was the best!

Very good service with enjoyable people to help solve your problem faster! The prices and very cheap and i would always see discounts from 25%-50 off! What a deal. I saved alot of money compared to other places around my area and I must say this is the best. Its also very close to my location and I could walk there without a problem. But i prefer to drive.

This place has the perfect nurse who seems to qualify perfectly for the job. I know one of my friends who goes here also and they also like it. The environment is clean and safe. The lines are short so you can get checked up and leave very soon. I meet some nice people who also goes here. The service is nice since they call you before one of your appointments.

John Frick at Frick Floors is a dream contractor. Aside from the fact that he does beautiful work installing vinyl tile, prefinished hardwood, and sheet vinyl flooring, he is a joy to work with. He's responsive. He arrives and works when he says he will. He gives expert advice and recommendations. He is absolutely the best contractor of any kind i've ever worked with.

There's already a Narcotics Anonymous program, right? Why Marijuana Anonymous? Well, because pot is considered to be such a "lite" drug, because it's considered to be non-addictive and even considered to be almost healthy, a lot of people who are addicted to pot feel like they don't get what they need out of meetings geared toward "harder" drugs. In reality, you can be addicted to anything; people can use anything to try to fill that hole inside themselves. I've never been to MA, but my sponsor started out there and she is a total wise insightful genius with a ton of recovery - so it must be good. More information can be found at

What a fantastic self-storage business! They go the extra mile to provide customer comfort and courtesy, not to mention low rates. Despite the fact that I entered this facility only an hour before closing time, while driving a huge U-Haul, the ladies at the front desk were overwelmingly helpful, and even added a special discount for using U-Haul without being asked! They cheerfully showed me three different available storage units, suggesting an end unit on the second floor as being closer to the locking dock since I could use their elevator, rather than renting on the ground floor. They then showed me their selection of hand trucks and dollies, and offered me some free boxes. While I was backing up the 21 foot U-Haul, both of them came out and directed me with the dexterity of an air-traffic controller, demonstrating tremendous patience and caution. Although I only anticipate using their unit for a month or two, I would highly recommend the safety, cleanliness and extreme courtesy to anyone, anytime. I have not found anything to compare.

Despite the name, like most twelve-step programs Overeaters Anonymous actually deals with both ends of the food spectrum - with any kind of dysfunctional relationship to food and eating, whether it's anorexia or bulimia or compulsive overeating or something else entirely. It's a free (but they pass the hat for totally voluntary donations), peer-led, supportive environment where people come share about their problems with food and the tools that have helped them. And along the way, people learn tools for a healthy life.
The OA East Bay website, http://www.oaeastbay.org/, has information about local meetings and about deciding whether OA would be useful to you. Every meeting is different; try several to see what kind you like.

I really do think this is one of the very best restaurants in the United States. The food is consistently exquisite and always healthy. The meals (They have a very small set menu) are always balanced in taste and my body always thanks me for going there.
The interior is nothing special, but it is more than made up for with the great food. It hearkens back to the time when a restaurant was for restoring the health of a person, not just entertaining the palette. I am glad to say that Manzanita does both.

Been cuting my hair at Jade for a long time now. I've cut my hair at other salons, and nothing compares. If you like the way a barber cuts your hair at Jade, you should always ask for the same person to do it. THough most of them can do the same job or same style, with the same barber, it's less worrysome.
