Bittersweet is a really cute chocolate cafe. I really like their classic sipping chocolate and homemade marshmallows. It's about the same price as a cup of coffee from Starbucks, but taste way better. (And also much better than plain hot chocolate.) They also sell different kinds of chocolate bars from all over the place in unique and sometimes weird flavors. I go there whenever I get the chance.

Bittersweet is wonderful. It's family-owned, it's one of a kind, it has incredible pastries and truffles and the widest selection of chocolate bars I've ever seen. The bar selection is wider than other local chocolate stores - plus it has exquisite descriptions for almost all of the bars - plus they serve food! Truly unique. They even have four kinds of hot chocolate - heck, they even have hot chocolate that I like, and I am not a hot chocolate fan. The "Spicy" hot chocolate is dark, sweet, and has a little burn just in the back of your throat. Every time I hit Bittersweet I end up buying one of those, and a brownie, and a bar of chocolate for later, and a cookie for later, and before I know it I've dropped $18 on what was going to be "just a quick drink." And it's so worth it!

I've been to Bittersweet Cafe twice and have had good experiences. The prices are not cheap but you get what you pay for. On my first visit I had their special mocha drink - it was very rich and I felt so full or bloated after finishing it. This place is a must for die-hard chocolate fans. They have various chocolate bars and paraphenalia for sale on the wall facing the chocolatier barista. On my second visit I had the european hot chocolate which had to be my favorite. It was definitely rich but tasted much better than the mocha. It was probably equivalent to Starbucks' Chantico drink which is almost like drinking chocolate sauce. They also carry a sundry variety of small pastries and apparently homemade candies. A great place to go for dates.

Chocolate fans…Yes! This is the café that you will fall in love with. As you know from its name, all the beverages and dessert are made of the company's specially produced chocolate. Try the Café American if you like milk chocolate. If you like dark chocolate more, the Cafe European may be your better choice. The cafe also sells individual choclate pieces.

This Chocolat-esque chocolate cafe is an unique cafe not to be missed in any visit to Rockridge. I don't even particularly like chocolate, but I find myself craving their "Spicy" drink more often than I like to admit. They often have free tastes of their pastries at the counter. The staff is uber-friendly and perky, probably from ingesting sugar and caffeine loaded chocolate drinks all day long. Not enough seating though. When we go, we don't even bother trying to grab a table or chair to linger.

This chocolate cafe should be open 24 hours a day. This den of decadence offers deliciously rich chocolate drinks as well as candies and baked goods. The baked goods are very tastey, but they look homemade. I appreciate that vibe, but someone looking for a more polished bakery may find the ever so slightly slanted cake a tad unprofessional in appearance. But the chocolate drinks make up for it. The European is pure chocolate-- no milk, no dilution whatsoever. Yum! And the American (a hot milk chocolate drink) is another favorite. My fiance is a fan of the spicy-- cinnamon and spice...there really is a kick to this drink and they serve it in a smaller size because you.can't.handle.it. The ambience is very hip, colorful fabric and multi-media paintings in a barnyard wood environment. Tis a lovely place to hang on a weekend afternoon.
