We used to eat here once in a while when they first opened and I was working nearby. The food was good but pricey - more for special occasion lunches. I recently called in the morning to try to make a lunch reservation. They hung up on me twice, then the 3rd time kept me on hold for almost ten minutes. When the hostess finally picked up the phone and I said I wanted to make a reservation, she replied (in an irritated tone of voice), "Y'know what, I'm busy. I'm gonna have to call you back."
Regardless of how good the food is, if a restaurant treats me like a mere annoyance, I tend not to go back. Ca' del Sol is going to have to teach their staff some phone manners before they see any more of my business.
There's a place nearby on Riverside Drive called Prosecco, where the food is just as good and the staff are really wonderful. I highly recommend them as a more pleasant alternative.
Pros: Good food
Cons: Rude service

I learnt my lessons...
Over the past few years... I swayed from one Italian restaurant to another, but none can surpass Ca del Sole...
It's almost unimaginable Ca' del Sole has everything that you can ask for from a good fine restaurant: great food (Nobody can beat their chicken lasagna and spaghetti vongole), great value (good portion with price not over the roof), great customer service (excellent waiters... I love you guys... they even split the dish for you - knowing I only dine with one person), great ambience (nice interiors - great for business meeting, great for romantic dining), great place to spend for family (yes, you can bring your family to have a really nice dinner)...
Overall, out of any other Italian restaurant... This place is the best...
I would never go to any other fine dining Italian restaurant anymore, except Ca' del Sole...
Yeah... because they're that good!!!
Pros: This place has everything you can ask for a great restaurant
Cons: none

Most important in our experience-we were absolutely blown away by the service. One of our party had just gotten out of the hospital and it was obvious she was struggling when walking. The manager insisted to move us to the largest booth in the restaurant (there were only 4 of us) in front of the fireplace. He would check on us throughout the meal, our server was also excellent and very attentive. The food-impressive presentation and DELICIOUS! The atmosphere-beautiful and very attentive to detail.
This is our new favorite restaurant.

Pros: Chicken lasagna, the ravioli, and service!

It saddens me that I have to berate this place. I had heard some good things about this place and even a well known celeb gave me the nod, so I thought great! What a great place to bring the Mom and celebrate her birthday! Boy oh boy I was wrong. First things first ... the wierd old man who I assumed was the manager was very abrupt and didn't seem to want to seat my party, even though we had reservations. In waiting to be seated (place was about half full), we perused over to the bar and got a cocktail. The drinks were solid and the bartender was nice(best part of the evening). We finaly got seated and were told the specials. there were 7 in our party so 3 of us had ordered the special items(Rib Eye) and to the dismay of our party . The waiter came back to tell us that they were all out of the special steak? To make matters worse...they were out of 3 other items. It's fine to run out of special items but items on your menu? i mean how does an Italian place run out of Mozzerela, that's like a Rib Place running out of BBQ sauce. You just don't. There staples. At that point everything seemed to go downhill. I mean not even an sincere apology...in fact the waiter seemed miff about even waitimg on us. He didn't have any wit wan was a complte bore. No humor at all. And everytime we asked him about an item on the menu, he would just repeat what was written in the menu. Does he even know what there taste like? The food was good, the bathroom nice and in fact the place was great. But the service sucked due to also not taking the plates off the table when done. Refills were slow and costly. Desserts a little on the warm side. Who eats warm tiramizuuu??? The staff needs to trained to be attentitive. It's funny how one takes these little things for granted. Bring back the days of Chasens and say no to Ca'de Sol. They didn;t even sing happy birthday for me Mum! The other table across from had the staff sing? Wonder what that was all about??? Shout out to the Mellanesa and OSO
Pros: Overall Place
Cons: Service

If you are looking for spaghetti & meatballs, fettucini alfredo, or angel hair pomodoro, do not come here. This place has a great menu of comfort italian food made with amazingly fresh ingredients. The calamari is an excellent starter as well as the artichoke/spinach salad. The gnocchi with duck confit is unbeatable. Their fish is fresh and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, you can't go wrong with the warm chocolate cake, though if you want something unique, the "crema" melts in your mouth. They are good in all areas of the meal. I also like to top it off with one of their dessert wines.
Pros: Solid food; haven

I had heard about Ca' Del Sole, and finally tried it. We were a party of 5 for dinner, and we had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed a good bottle of wine (okay, two bottles) at a great price, and our food was terrific. Even with the temperature in the 80s, we loved sitting out on the patio. It was beautiful.
Service was good, as well.
The salads and appetizers were wonderful, and the pastas and other main dishes (chicken, stefado) were also outstanding.
The only down side to this gem is that, as at many Los Angeles restaurants, the beautiful outdoor space becomes the smoking section (can you say "fresh air?"). But if you ask to be seated away from the smokers, they do their best to accommodate you.
A great place for your next special occasion.

My friend and I dined here for my birthday. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The menu is extensive and so is the wine list. I had a mojito. I had the Octopus appetizer and it was ok. Nothing great it was a cold appetizer which was my mistake for not noting. I then had the Stufato for my entree and this was delicious. It was a hearty heart soup with lots of seafood inside. My friend had the Osso Bucco and she loved it. I have to commend the service...our server was really great freindly and knowledgeable. Overall a great place to eat and catch up with old friends. The tables were a little too close together for my liking.
Pros: Friendly staff, extensive wine list, prompt seating
Cons: BRIGHT, tables too close
