Based on reading the reviews here before I went I fully expected to be handcuffed on my way in the door and wind up in jail. I am happy to report that did not happen. Security, management and the bar staff were respectful and attentive all night long. Drinks were priced well and music was fun. Obviously I can?t speak to the issues others had here in the past. Based on my experience it?s a fun place to spend a Saturday night and I would go back again. Pros: fun and safe Cons: location

So, I don't know about the rest of you, but now that I'm 25, I'm beginning to be a bit "over" the whole Hollywood scene... at least all the effort that goes into it. I'm tired of getting all dressed up, standing in a super long "guest list" line in my stilettos, paying 20 bucks just to get in, and then hoping that the DJ doesn't stink... not to mention, if I want some jack and coke, I'll be lucky to leave with a 75 dollar bar tab... now at SKINNY'S, you get the whole lounge vibe and dance party of Hollywood with a more down-to-earth crowd, cheap drinks, hot bartenders, and a guaranteed amazing DJ! On top of all that, on Thursday nights, the DJ spins all 80s (for the most part), which I happen to be a huge fan of! Basically, the valley has needed an awesome club for decades now, and I think I've finally found it!!! I've been taking my girlfriends there every Thursday for months, because it's super fun and effortless! My hat goes off to Skinny's, thanks for bringing Hollywood to the valley and making it so much better <3 Pros: DJ, music, cheap drinks, no cover on thursdays Cons: none!

Wow, this place is AWESOME! I have been to Skinny's a few times recently, last on a Thursday night and was really impressed with pretty much everything...the location is great because I am from the valley, and it was very convenient to have such a "nice" place so close by. The layout is awesome- I first walked in and was blown away at how nice, yet low key the place was. All the staff, including the bartenders are really friendly! Eric the bartender is awesome. He was serving up some strong drinks for me and my friends all night. And last, but certainly not least- the music!!! I was blown away at how awesome the DJ was! I mean, I couldn't believe I was in the valley at a random lounge- this guy on Thursday night is really great! He played mainly 80's tunes (I think that is the theme on Thursdays), but really knew how to keep the vibe going all night long. I definitely will be back to Skinny's and highly recommend checking it out! Pros: DJ, Great Crowd, Location Cons: None

I have been going to Skinny's with a couple girlfriends nearly every Thursday since June and I don't plan on stopping. It is a swank place where they pour a great drink and have a large dance floor (I'm partial to dancing the night away). Thursday is "80's night" but if 80's isn't your thing, don't let that sway you. The DJ is ridiculous! He never leaves his post - constantly spinning 80's tunes into 90's and current hip hop/r&b. And if my sources are correct, he's starting to spin on Friday nights (no theme) starting this month so check it out! I've read some negative stuff about the weekends and while I can't vouch for the long lines, crowding, etc., that I've read in other reviews...over the last 7 months I've met 3 of the doormen and neither my friends nor I have ever had a problem. In fact, Skinny's is like my 'Cheers'...they know me and I know them and I'm always glad I went. That makes for a fun, comfortable environment. The bar staff (males and females) is hot and friendly, and DJ Vox takes requests. Bottom line: Check it out for yourself! It's a laid-back local spot with great energy and music. Pros: Great vibe. Great DJ. Great staff. Cons: I hear Saturdays could use an update.

If you're looking for a Hollywood type spot, but don't feel like driving over the hill, then this is it. Great lounge vibe with a dark but warm decor. The bar is huge and the bartenders were hot and attentive. Even the owners were very polite and approachable, which is rare. Good mix of locals and outsiders. This is definitely a destination bar. Nice dance floor and good music. Great place to meet girls and the crowd is definitely improving. The security staff is definitely working in a good ratio. I highly recommend this joint.

From the outside you would never expect what you find inside...a fairly large, yet intimate, dark lounge vibe (with a full size dance floor..which is rare for the valley). I have been there several times during the week and there always seems to be varied promotions every night of the week, from comedy to live band karaoke to an 80's night on Thursday (my personal favorite). Great bartenders and reasonably priced drinks and a cool local vibe. I know it gets crazy busy on the weekends and there seems to be a more "weekend amateur" club vibe...I see the line out the door when I drive by. Friday and Saturday nights are NOT my style but i'm sure it would be a great time if your into fighting the crowds...I just prefer the more relaxed weekdays at Skinny's. Overall, an amazing place to go get your drink on with some really cool promotions and super hot bartenders! Pros: hot staff, cool mix of promotions Cons: waaay too crowded on the weekends.

I hadn?t been there in a long while until this past weekend and let me tell you it was the worst bar experience EVER! Skinny?s is "trying" to become "Hollywood" with enforcing a dress code?ha-ha!! don?t make me laugh?Its North Hollywood! & they now charge at the door (all they're missing is valet!). They make MEN not woman just MEN wait in line for a LONGTIME. i was already inside the bar and asked the security guard if there is anything he can do to let our two males friends in, the asian security guard straight out told me...with an attitude "WE'RE AT CAPACITY...WE ARE NO LONGER LETTING MEN IN?ONLY WOMAN" uh if you're at capacity you shouldn't let anyone in...It?s called DISCRIMINATION!! The security guards are extremely rude, short tempered, and they believe on resolving situation with violence. They are unprofessional, uneducated, have no common sense on how to handle simple situations, and will put you in handcuff FOR NO REASON (read the reviews below?its happened to other people in the past). So next time you?re thinking of getting your drink on at a local bar go to CODAS around the corner on Magnolia and Van Nuys. Cons: small bathroom-long line-cover charge-dress code only on males-security guards are violent

its sad that i have to do this..i've never had to write a review, but after what happened this past saturday i feel that i have to say something..skinny's has become a 'cool spot', something that they weren't before..they're trying to change the crowd by not letting hooded sweaters or untucked shirts in, give me a break its north hollywood!! and if you're a guy get ready to wait in line for a long time. i've been there before and the crowd is not great at all. The security are very rude and they mistreat ALL theyre patrons, male or female!!! we were looking to have a good time that night for a friend's bday, but it became the worst night that i've ever had because of security.. my sister and boyfriend were mistreated/beaten for no reason by the security!!!! they have no sense of judgement. skinny's is one of few the bars that we have in noho, and because of that night i can never go back..So thanks to the meat heads that are handling the door, we will never go back..so this is a way to warn people not to go there!!! not worth your time whatsoever, unless you dont mind getting manhandled by security even BEFORE you enter the bar. DO NOT GO, there are plenty other bars around the area. Cons: Everything about this bar is a con!!! nothing good at all!

I've been to Skinnys on almost every night of the week at least once, and I have to say that I dig the week day crowd better. It's way more chill and has a local feel. The staff is super cool and I have never seen a fight break out there during the week. I personally, think that weekends misrepresent the bar and it's normal clientele. It seems like amateur night and the place is packed to the brim with them!! Week days at skinnys are where it's at!
