Essentials is my favorite store in downtown Northampton. They sell some baby stuff as well as bags and things for your home. It's a great place to buy gifts for people because everything there is just so pretty. They sell journals, lots of stationary, European country table linens, gorgeous aprons, pop-art style melamine dishes, serving bowls, even couches. The store is an "essential."

A small fib it is to name a store full of non-essential items, Essentials. The store carries faniful papers, stamp letters, lunchboxes, magazine racks, vintage looking grosgrain ribbon... Great finds, but better suited for gifting than stocking up. Everytime I walk in I feel like I have gone to france: the books out on the table suggest travel, their large preoccupation with Herge's Tintin, and small brown boxes that look like they might hold delightful sweet nothings. For whimsical homewares, stop here. A smart, unique shop on main.

Essentials has a gallery of stationary and related items. Unique cards, rubber stampers, and ribbons are waiting neatly on the shelves here. You will also find furniture, books, and a wall of gift wrapping paper. I think that they have a gift wrapping service available for a fee as well. The prices are a bit high, so if you want similar items for a cheaper price, you may want to go to Michael's arts and crafts store instead.
