My husband was a Supercuts customer for a couple of years. He had a favorite Hair Stylist during the time he went there. But then that person left Supercuts and another hairstylist started cutting his hair and he did not like so he stopped going there. But overall they have great prices and it also depends and how good the Hairstylist is.

The hair cuts for your kids are pretty basic but the good thing is that they have many distractions for your squirmy toddlers. They have seats in the shape of cars, videos, bubbles, toys, you name it. And the cut only takes 10 minutes or so (even that seems an eternity when your child is crying her eyes out because she really hates having anyone touch her hair). The toy store portion of the store has a good selection of interesting things for toddlers at decent prices. The guy behind the register is pretty friendly and solicitous.

This place looks good on the outside
nice colors etc
The people STINK and they are really dishonest- The owners look like they are inscrupulous and there may be underground activities
sex-drugs and aliens
I saw them take deposits for a Party and not refund the people
and not let them have the party
Their parties are outrageously filthy
Google the owners name-You will see his RAP sheet
I have seen them operate with so much health hazard
They are not shut down becaue they pay good fines to the city
Well do not be a fool
seek pleasure elsewhere

I wholeheartendly recommend Salon Shin for haircuts. I've been going there for a couple years. I always get my hair cut by Yuki, and she's done an incredible job every time. People regularly compliment me on my hair. I have even told her that she's hurting her own business because her cuts grow out so well that I only have to go back every few months! She charges $50; more experienced stylists cost slightly more. I've only gotten cuts, but I'm sure they'd be great for color too. The salon's atmosphere is tranquil and friendly. They also give you a neck and scalp massage after shampooing your hair.

I've received a consistently great color and cut for the past six years. I've had no need to go elsewhere. Ask for Giselle (my stylist) or Jeanne, the owner.
Jeanne does great make-up for her photographer husbands' clientele, many actresses and actors.

More
It's not amazing, but for those considering SuperCuts or Jean David haircuts, it's time to start looking outside the major chains. Chinatown is a untapped wealth of discount services, and this hair salon is a prime example. Stylists all speak English, and they give you the full shampoo, cut and blow-dry for the huge total of $18. Coloring costs a little more, but the owner makes and blends her own hair dyes. The cuts are good, fast, and extremely cheap. Do not be put off by the heart of Chinatown-locale or the strange looks some customers might give you if you're not Asian, these women know what they're doing, can communicate with you fine, and they will give you a great cut for your dollar. Also, if Amy's is busy, the entire block is full of cheap hair salons, others of which I've heard good things about as well.

I’m hesitant about writing this review because I’m not the right person to ask. I used to go here for waxing. I was never happy with the service. I always felt uncomfortable in the downstairs rooms. But I’ve never tried any of the other services, and they’re supposed to be quite good for hair. Also, frankly, I think I was always the only girl in there (it is Christopher Street, for pete's sake). So try it if you're a guy and see what other people have to say.

If, on the other hand, you want a rather painful "body rub" - think a full body "Indian Burn" - this is the place for you.
My experience at Dyanna was definitely sub-par, it had nothing to do with massage and shouldn't have been advertised as such. The therapist had a medical, not therapeutic, background and the touch to prove it (yikes!). She did no deep work, just a rough body rub accompanied by complaints about how hard her job was. At one point she squirted cold oil directly from the bottle onto my leg, yikes! again.
I suppose that I should have been grateful that the experience came to an end after only 45 minutes, except that they still expected me to pay for an hour's massage, and informed me that I was "very rude" for refusing to pay for service I didn't receive. (The spa menu I took from the box outside the door didn't specify that changing time was part of the hour).
Oh, and did I mention that about 3/4 of the way through the massage the "Twin Peaks" theme song came on the stereo in the massage room? Not disturbing, but a little distracting...to say the least.

More
A second-story business located on 47th Street above one of the Diamond District’s ubiquitous jewelry stores, Town Optical is a breath of fresh air for anyone who has ever experienced cursory or dismissive service when trying to get glasses or contact lenses. Smart, well-informed doctors with up-to-the minute information (not a candidate for Lasik, I was informed of new corrective surgical procedures to keep, ahem, an eye out for in the next few years), along with patient, helpful eyeglass counter staff (and honest—I was talked out of getting the thinnest, most expensive lenses for my frames and was very happy with the end result) and a wide selection of frames make for a pleasant, painless experience. They also accept a wide range of insurance and help you get the most coverage out of your carrier.
