I've been to Zen Palate a couple of times and have been thoroughly impressed both times. There are two options: you could sit at the cafe outside or at the regular restaurant inside. As far as I can remember, the two have different menus. Last time, I ate inside. The service was great. I had made reservations and when we got there it took a minute until our table was ready. The staff bent over backwards and even gave us a free appetizer for this "inconvenience." The food itself is great. With a lot of the dishes, if you didnt' tell someone that it was vegetarian, they wouldn't know it. The scallion pancake and egg roll appetizer were very good and I would encourage people to experiment with the main dishes. Don't read too much into the name or description because a lot of times they don't necessarily reflect what you think the dish would be.

I cannot even begin to explain how happy I am to have discovered Zen Palate at Union Square, NY. Everything about this place is a pleasure from the delicious and diverse menu selection to the beautiful and comforting restaurant design. The food is exceptionally good. I have tried about 1/2 of the items on the extensive menu and have been surprised and delighted with each dish. The only down size is that there are so many delicious choices that I have a hard time deciding what to order. If this were not enough, I'm shocked at how affordable the food is. Keep in mind that I am only talking about the "cafe" part of the restaurant (there is an upstairs too which is supposed to be more casual dining and more expensive). The cafe downstairs is very quick-service but this is not reflective of the food which is very high quality. After I have tried everything on the Cafe menu I plan to explore the upstairs dining area. Anbody who complains that a vegetarian diet is boring and tasteless has not visited Zen Palate.

Zen Palette is one of the finest vegetarian restaurants. They serve a modern Asian blend that is completely animal friendly. The at least 3 NYC restaurants are all out of this world. ZP is one of the few upscale veggie friendly place out there. The prices a little high but not bad by NYC standards and the desserts are as good as the entrées.

I went to Zen Palate on the recommendation of my roommate and I couldn't have been more pleased. The atmosphere is really neat--I love the way the menus are put together.
Our food was excellent. I went with my mother and cousin, and all three of us are lifelong vegetarians. We were thrilled with the selections, and ordered miso soup, basil spring rolls, taro spring rolls, general sesame medallions (yum!!!!) and tofu almond cheesecake (the consistency is a little weird, but it's tofu, so what can you expect? The taste, however, is amazing). All the food was delicious and I can't wait to try more stuff off their menu.
In addition, the staff there were really friendly, explained menu items to us, were very accomodating about our sharing one entree, and just all around a great experience. The price was good, too--less than $30 for all three of us (three appetizers, one entree, one dessert).
Overall, highly recommended. I'll be going back.

They are bonded and insured, so I don't know what your friend is talking about-- look on the website. In several months of using them for cleaning, they once broke something and they left a message for me. They paid for it the next day.
I just hired Zen Home to reorganize my home and to help me be more eco-friendly. I work in finance so I don't have a lot of time to figure out how to be more green-- they re-organized my entire home and gave me REAL suggestions that I can actually implement to decrease my consumption of plastics and paper goods, given my busy schedule. They are professional and true to their word. I just took a year-long cleaning contract with them. Zen Home is absolutely worth the premium, I think they are very reasonable, in fact, give the services and products they provide. I would say BE LEARY OF PEOPLE'S STORIES!
Pros: original, amazing service
Cons: hard to get a last minute appointment

The sushi is pretty cheap & free, though the portions are kind of small. After ten there are two buck pints of kirin or something, that's pretty cool for the village. And the waitresses occasionally hit japanese giggly mode which totally cracks me up. Like many village places, the patio is a little ridiculous though.

Went to rent a Tux in a short time period, not much time to shop around. Place is not friendly and the prices are outrageous. Was quoted a price for 125 (cheapest tux they had). Turns out the tux was over 200 after tie, vest, shoes, & shirt. They charged everything seperately which is not standard and ridiculous, even after the shoes were wrong and showed up a day late, meaning I had to go back multiple times.
They are not open on Sunday and store hours are not working people friendly. Needless to say go somewhere else and save yourself 100 dollars and the hassle of this place.
Pros: none
Cons: expensive
