I used to love this store, because it was nice to have a real 'boutique' option in the neighborhood. But as I gained familiarity with the product, I realize that if it has the house label on it, they got it very cheap from a supplier. Part of this realization came from how quickly their house-brand shirts, skirts, etc. fell apart after just one or two washings, even on the delicate cycle. The other part of this realization came from seeing the same shirt I'd purchased from Pookie displayed in the window at Joyce Leslie on 8th street. My astonishment was such that I went inside to check for sure, and it was the same exact top. The difference in price was $25. That was enough to put me off the store forever. And don't get started about their customer service...

It's fun to check out the stuff at Pookie and Sebastian because there's always something new. Their merchandise is reasonbly priced, although it's not of the highest quality, and it's especially nice if you can find them when things are on sale (which happens a lot). The only problem I've found is that they tend not to take things back, so make sure that you like what you buy before you pay for it!

I always love to stick my head into Pookie and Sebastian, and I'm sure that one day I'll find a good deal. They rotate there clothes often, which means that they always have sale stuff to unload (I love my sales!). I'm not totally sure but it seems to me that they carry knock off or low end designer brands (excuse my fashion ignorance), because they always have the latest fads at reasonable prices.

I used to love this store for cute, cheap, trendy clothing that was always complimented. I had a very bad experience with them last summer and I have not been back since. I bought a shirt off the sale rack and asked the salesperson if I should try it on. She discouraged me for several reasons: they were closing the store and she didn't want to be bothered, and the shirt was "one size fit all" so she said just buy it. So instead of trying it on I bought it and took it home. I tried it on when I got home and found about 3 holes in it. The next morning I called the store to complain and even explained that I was discouraged from trying it on and they told me that they have a no return, no store credit policy. So basically I bought it and it was mine forever. In the end I had to throw the shirt out and wasted forty dollars on nothing. Their stuff is cheap and poorly made.
