I don't read a lot of sci-fi. I've only gone in here a couple of times with my LOTR fanatic friends. The place always struck me as very high- the ceiling is higher than most other stores. The people who work here are dorks (I say that as a compliment). I have picked up several Calvin and Hobbes here; they have a decent selection of comic books. And of course, action figures.

Welcome to the wacky world of the Forbidden Planet. If you're expecting some kind of weird sexual shop that caters to the freaky sneaky minded your plum out of luck. This store is more kitchy and manga than kitten and mango(hey you try rhymning something with Manga!). Good place to buy comic books and action figurines and video games.

Forbidden Planet has it all. This place has a great selection for all your comic book needs and or you r toy needs. This place has a huge inventory of back issues as well as all the recent stuff. They have been around forever and not much has changed about them. The selection is very thorough and if you don't see what you want I'm sure they can point you in the right direction on how to get it, if they don't get it for you. Nice staff, very knowledgeable. recommend Forbidden Planet to any one looking for a comic book store with it all.

Smack dab in the East Village and only a few blocks away from Strands book store is Forbidden planet. Home to kitchy knick knacks, pop culture items and the weirdest self published zines and books you will find anywhere. It is literally another planet. It's fun to browse and you won't find many of the items in most stores.

ok, so clearly you have to love either comic books, dungeons and dragons, pewter figurines, or any number of other role playing or card based games - but if you do, this is a really great place to indulge all those desires. this place has the most extensive comics - um.. graphic novels - collection that i've ever seen, and a whole upstairs devoted to tournaments of magic or pokemon or whatever card game the kids are into these days. love this place!

Forbidden Planet is the coolest comic book/toy shop in New York City. Not only do they have a large variety of comic books, but they also possess the greatest selection of action figures ranging from Spawn to Major League Baseball players! Everyone who works there is cool too unlike other comic book shops with snobby workers!

Forbidden Planet is a great store in a great location near Union Square. They have got a huge selection of new comics, graphic novels, and toys (mostly action figure types). It is a fun store jam-packed with product. The workers there are not the most helpful and I have never had an employee actually approach me to see if they could help. But it is a convenient location and a great place to pick up new comics. They have a limited selection of back issues as well.

Here at the Forbidden planet, they have all of the latest comics, but none of the back issues, or not any that I was looking for. They have a huge inventory of collectible figurines that are nice and pretty reasonably priced. I'd definitely go in and check them out. They also sell video games as well so you can get the latest releases for your playstation, gamecube, and xbox as well. I'd go in and check the place out. It's not a terribly big store, but it's convenient enough on broadway.

One of my favourite stores in the city, also a place where my wallet fears entering. You'll find current comics and often great past treasures. The staff is very helpful and they are big comic geeks. It can get extremely crowded at times, but it's still always worth the trip. They also sell figurines, and video games.

Forbidden Planet has a really nice selection of comic books, art books, movie toys and merchandise, action figures, t-shirts and more. The fleet of cute nerds behind the counters know their stuff and can help you find what you're looking for. While I was in art school, I used to go several times a month and stock up on the old cheap comics that they sell for a quarter in the back, for use in my various homework projects. FP is a lot of fun, and everyone is welcome, from the nerd on a mission to the casual browser. Great location in Union Square makes it a perfect place to wander in and out of while waiting for a movie or dinner reservations.
