Radio City Music Hall is more than the home of the Rockettes or big concerts -- it was once a movie palace, and sometimes still is. I saw fantasia here when I was very, very young, and in recent years they have started using the venue for special event movies again. If you have an opportunity to see a movie here, it's a true moment of old New York and is not to be missed.

Radio City Music Hall is a New York institution. Having visited the great hall almost every holiday since childhood, I still marvel at its grandeur and majesty. This was THE place to see a first run film AND the Rockettes stage show (many people don't know this). It is now home to special events (the Grammys and Tony Awards), concerts and the ever famous Christmas Holiday Spectacular featuring those glamour girl Rockettes. Take a Stage Door tour of Radio City and see what makes it so special. Actually walk on the Great Stage and experience the hydraulic system in operation since the '30s! The stage is actually mounted on sections that rise on elevators (allowing for quick scene changes and special effects). And, that magical magnificient Wurlitzer organ (built especially for Radio City) has a sound like no other instrument. No matter which entertainer comes here, the Radio City House still steals the show. The Grand Foyer just emits elegance and still takes my breath away each and every time I visit. The inside is like a work of art. Radio City is considered the world's largest indoor theatre. And EVERY seat is a good seat because there are no columns to obstruct your view of the Great Stage. How great is that? Can you tell how much I like Radio City?

I have only seen 2 concerts here but I have been absolutely floored both times. The acoustics are fantastic. Anywhere you sit here is a good seat. Ushers are friendly and very helpful, especially when you're trying not to fall in the dark while rushing to your seat. The decor is beautiful. I'm not the kind of person that goes on tours of things like this but I can see why people do. If you're in NY, you really should see it.

Radio City has been around for what seems like forever. Sadly, some folks only associate it with the Christmas Spectacular (a show I think everyone should see at least once, for the live nativity if nothing else) & the Rockettes. This is a major concert venue! And the home of the Tonys! Warning - you may want to look at a seating chart when buying tickets as there are a lot of seats and many of them are VERY FAR from the stage. This may not be a problem, depending on the show you are there to see.

For years, I have visited New York, never visiting this major tourist attraction, until now, that is. Was I ever missing much! Inside, the music hall's grand foyer leaves you awe-struck; it makes you feel like you are in a bygone era, a time when going to see a show was THE main form of entertainment. The clerks and ushers all are dressed nicely, the hordes of people crowd around buying the overpriced souvenirs and concessions. The lines to the bathrooms, known as "lounges" are very long, especially after the show. Anyhow, the place is truly an Art Deco masterpiece. There are so many big chandeliers and the stage is a sight in itself. I watched the Christmas Spectacular on a Friday afternoon, and though I had 'nosebleed' seats (hey, I only paid $23 per person including bus fare), I could still almost make out the casts' faces. The sound was great, though, and it was so cool to see the lights change color and the orchestra rise up and sink down. The presentation was wonderful; the performers were so talented. The music was great, and I had a lot of fun. Only now I don't want to hear any more Christmas carols. (It's amazing what two non stop hours of Christmas songs do to you! Now I know how the people working retail now feel.) Be forewarned: it is a real pain to leave here. Check in starts early, and you'd better be there 30 minutes early. It gets crazy. Oh, and please don't come late. A lot of people came and sat near me blocking my view of the stage during Act 2.

If you're visiting New York around the Christmas season and you're breathing, you have to check out the Rockettes at the Majestic Radio City Music Hall. Tall, leggy women will kick out at you and even if you're all the way in the top, you'll feel personally kicked by their holiday charm. It's a wonderful experience for the whole family!

What is New York City without the Rockettes?!?! Especially during the Christmas Holiday Season -- a visit to Radio City Music Hall is a must. But they offer so much more than just the Rockettes. They have a wide variety of live music and performances to choose from. It is centrally located -- a short walk from Times Square. There are lots of restuarants to choose from near by for a bite to eat either preshow or post show. Radio City is a place everyone should go at least once -- tourist or not!

Radio CIty Music Hall is terrific when you are in the audience for a performance, and it is even more interesting when you go 'behind the scenes' and see how it all works. It is fun to meet a Rockette, especially if you have a young girl who is an aspiring dancer or ballerina. Everyone is very friendly and nice - it reminded me of Disney in the best way. There are sometimes discount tickets at the NY Vistor's bureau or in the hotels, if you have a chance to ask before you make your reservations

...than seeing a performance at Radio City Music Hall? This place is so majestic, and you can feel it's infamous energy the minute you walk through it's doors and absorb the burgandy velvet decor. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house, but if you are seeing a performance for the first time here, try and get orchestra seats in front of the 1st mezzanine balcony, so you aren't distracted by the overhang.

Radio City Music Hall is one of the all-time classic venues to see a show. The Hall has recently undergone a fabulous renovation that makes it more accessible and technoligically friendly than ever before. There really are no bad seats in this theater that opened in 1932. I sat in the third messanine for a Beach Boys tribute concert and the sound was great and I could see just fine. Of course, you can't describe Radio City without mentioning the world famous Radio City Rockettes with their dazzling leg kicks and classical choreography. From Duke Ellington to Dolly Parton, Radio City has something for everyone.
