I have been to this place probably over 20 times and it is great. It is a little off the beaten track but worth seeking out. Food fresh and the people who work and own it are very nice people. It is never really busy and it is a shame because it is totally worth it. Inexpensive, quiet, great food what else could you ask for! Great to go for lunch after a day long soho/noho/nolita shopping trip!
Pros: great value
Cons: location

I went with a friend on a Friday night and I was pleased that it wasn't too crowded. The food came pretty quickly and it was simply delicious. The soup and shrimp dumplings were delectable and the main meals we ordered were equally as good. It was also very filling and the waitress was polite. I will definitely be back.
Pros: Really good Thai!
Cons: none

I love this place. I used to work nearby and I would go at least once a week. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and I think the only thing I didn't care for much was the crispy egg noodle dish. Everything else is awesome. Try the steamed fish. I would almost always do take-out because the place is mobbed at lunch time. (good sign, right?)
Pros: Delicious food, friendly staff, quick prep
Cons: Lunch time crowd is insane due to popularity

This restaurant recently renovated and my co-workers and I were very excited to see if the food and atmosphere were improved. Unfortunately, after one pleasant experience each subsequent lunch has turned into a stressful and regrettable ordeal. The service is so invisible the time we've sat waiting for our food has eaten up our entire lunch hour, and that's not even including the half-hour spent begging for and paying the check. The food is still uninspired, basic American Thai, lacking any complex combination of flavor. Today was the kicker - I went in for a peaceful lunch by myself, willing to give this place another try, and ordered a standard lunch special. The total came to around $14.00 and I tried to pay with my debit card - the waitress barked that the credit card minimum is $25.00 and "why don't you have any cash? There is a sign posted." The sign was not visible from either the entrance or the dining room. I have also ordered takeout from there before (for one) and used my credit card. Longish story short, I told the manager than he should post the rule in the menu and he said "all my customers know this. It has been the policy for 10 years." Really. I went to the ATM and came back with the cash, but seriously, this is a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Now, instead of the manager doing something nice and running my card and letting me learn my lesson for the next time, I'm writing an honest review on Citysearch: Don't go to this place, the food is subpar and the staff is inconsiderate. Sure the place is in the restaurant drought of 1st avenue, but it's better to walk over to 2nd then deal with a totally stressful lunch.
Pros: not many other restaurants around, the chili pepper tray is nice
Cons: service, service, service

I brought my mom to have dinner there last night. We had Prix fix. It's $18.95 including soup, sald, appetizer, entree and dessert. It's very good deal! We both had Tom Yum Shrimp soup and Dumpling as appetizer. I tried Pad Thai with Shrimp and my mom had Chicken Basil sauce. We had coconut ice cream and fried banana as dessert to share. I just want to say it's perfect! Also, the service is very attentive and fast. Waitresses are very helpful and friendly. My mom was very happy and she would recommend her friends to visit Bangkok House when they're comming to the City. I would to go back again soon next week before my broadway show. See you soon, Bangkok House
Pros: Excellent Food and Service
Cons: So far... Nothing
