so i've enjoyed green curry in many thai restaurants in nyc and, of course, in bangkok! This place will give anyone a run for their money. The green curry has that slightly sweet taste and the thickness of the curry is just right! ...with tofu, shrimp, or chicken, you won't be disappointed! ok, so everything is really good an it's fun, reasonable, and brings in a fun group of hungry patrons this place on 46th and 9th ave. btw, the thai iced coffee isn't bad either :) oh, by the way, try the pad kee mao (sp?) and other noodle dishes! The pad thai is great, but i've found better in bangkok (maybe an unfair comparison ;) Also, yum yum is a great take-out and delivery find as well...a local favorite!
Pros: green curry, fun atmosphere, fast & reasonable
Cons: not that upscale (actually a plus in my book)

My friends and I were searching for a place to eat after a Saturday evening movie. We stopped here as it was a corner restaurant. The place is very very small. I always browse thru the entire menu at a restaurant I visit the first time. They have a good selection of choices. When I saw all the items listed under the prix fixe menu, I couldn't believe it and had to ask to make sure. Yes, you do get all 5 courses: appetizer, soup, salad, main dish, and dessert. So we all ordered from the prix fixe menu. The food was excellent. I was so full by the time dessert came. I left this place happy and a few pounds heavier. :-)

This hole in the wall place is among many Thai/ Asian restaurants in the far west side. Everything tastes delicious and authentic. Price is very good too. Maybe take out is a better way to enjoy their food because you would always have to wait to get seated and the place is very cramped.

I really enjoyed dinner at Wondee Siam. The food was great, portions were large, prices affordable. Being able to bring your own bottle(s) of wine is definitely a perk but don't plan on staying long and drinking and chatting - they move you in and out of here due to the tiny little eating area. Overall, much recommended for a good, cheap dinner!
Pros: BYOB, large portions, affordable
Cons: Small seating area, wait time

Wild Ginger is one of those places that you want to tell tourists about, but then don't (let them stay uptown at the Hard Rock Cafe :) ).
For a first (or 5th) date, a group get together, or just to go alone, Wild Ginger has a great atmosphere for either lunch or dinner. Large portions of good, spicy, inexpensive(not cheap) food. Now, I'm not a Thai connoisseur, but everything (aside from the fried tofu appetizer) that I've tried at Wild Ginger has been tasty and enjoyable.
And let me say again- great for a first date!
Pros: great value, good atmosphere
Cons: well, the fried tofu appetizer is the only con

I used to go to the Hell's Kitchen location all the time. Once I moved uptown and started a family it became harder and harder to make the trek to Vynl. Thankfully, Vynl came to me! This is a fantastic spot with a lot to offer. The staff is very friendly and the food is always very fresh. I especially like how accomodating they are when it comes to my children. No dirty looks when you come in with a stroller or ask for a highchair. My kids really love the kid's menu and I like that they have healthy options for kids (like a mini veggie burger with a side salad.) The kids love all the dolls, disco-balls, and the fantastic bathrooms (the Diana Ross bathroom is not to be missed.) Overall, if you are looking for tasty food in a fun environment you should definitely give Vynl a try.
Pros: Fresh Food, Great Decor, Family-Friendly
Cons: Very busy for brunch
