great place to bring a nice lady on a date if its a special occasion birthday, anniversary etc.. a little pricey so i wouldn't go regularly but i wish i could. The lobster mac and cheese was great. The only thing i thought couldve been better was the pork belly tater tots.
Pros: best ny strip ive had in a long time

Great variety of meats and salad bar. The service is top notch. Make sure to request PICANHA NOBRE to your servant...its the best and most expensive cut. :O) Trust me, this is just like nice churrascarias in Brazil. Make sure to go there hungry.
Pros: quality/variety of meats
Cons: nothing

If you've come this far and are trying to decide if you want to try Spark's then do yourself a favor and make a reservation immediately. Simply put, you will not find a better tasting steak in New York City. Yes, I have been to Peter Luger. Yes, I have been to the Strip House. Yes, I have been to the Old Homestead. I can say without hyperbole or hesitation that Spark's has the best STEAK in the 5 boroughs and Prime Sirloin be thy name. As a bonus they also sport the most comprehensive and incredible wine list I have ever seen.
Do yourself a favor and make it happen.
Pros: Prime Sirloin & Wine List

I organized a dinner to send one of my buddies off to India for a 2 year work stint. It was a last minute deal and we planned on 8-10 guys showing up. He wanted to do steak. We have all eaten at most of the top steak joints in NYC. I had never been to the Strip House but had heard good things from colleagues. I decided to make a reservation for 10 the day before. We were able to get that reservation and the girl on the phone was very nice. Later I started reading these reviews of how bad the service is. I could not have found that to be more from the truth. The host was very nice. We wound up with 8 people(I had called and changed the reservation to 8) The first table they seated us at was against the wall and a bit cramped for 8 big guys. They had no problem moving us to a table in the center of the room that let us spread out a bit more.
I also read that the service was rushed. We walked in at 7 for out 7pm reservation. We were missing one guy. They told us to take our time and just let them know when we wanted to be seated. After 15 min we told them we were ready and would wait for the last guy at the table. We waited another 30 min or so and were not rushed along to order at all. After the apps there was a nice waiting period before the steaks came. The staff was very attentive and very courteous. I imagine maybe people feel like if they spend a lot of money on dinner they need to have someone wipe their chin, I dont know, but I do know that these guys did a great job.
As far as the food goes we had the seafood platter for the table. I would say the shell fish was average. The scallops were amazingly good. We also had the foie gras which may have been the best I ever had. I ordered some bacon and the tomato and mozzarella for the table as well. I had the bacon and it was pretty good.
For the mains everyone had the bone in strip but one guy who ordered the lamb. The strips were slightly overcooked but not outrageous. I knew from others to order the steak rarer then you normally would elsewhere. The quality of the steak was great. It had a great taste and was not just a piece of meat with butter on it.
As for the corkage policy, we brought 2 bottles of wine and were charged $15 per cork. It was not an issue at all. We also ordered more wine after we finished our two bottles.
All in all a great experience. I would recommend trying this place.
Pros: food, atmosphere, service
Cons: price

Visiting New York with my wife during "Restaurant Week", I researched restaurants in the Gramercy/Flat Iron/Chelsea neighborhoods and found Angelo and Maxie's. We made our long distance reservations over the phone, which was an efficient and pleasant experience in itself. Unlike the previous evening where the restaurant offered a limited RW menu with many surcharges added, A&Ms offered their specialties at the standard RW rate of $35 for three courses. The service was efficient and gracious, and the 12-oz filet mignon literally melted in our mouths. Furthermore, the chef produced a "medium well" and "medium" which matched our expectations perfectly. The first-course salad was both ample and fresh. Lastly, I opted for the NY cheesecake dessert while my more disciplined wife chose the fruit (and couldn't resist some of MY delicious fattening item!). All in all, it was a fine experience which capped off a fine day in NYC.

Having gone for lunch at Les Halles downtown many times i finally decided to goto the Park Avenue location last night with a visiting friend for dinner. Started off with a couple of Kronenberg 1664 drafts, a nice French Pale Lager. We shared an order of the Esargot and Pate. Escargot was solid..classic garlic buttery sauce..gotta love em. Pate was very rich and flavorful as well. For our entree we decided to get the Planche de Grillades (for two)$56.00 (lamb chop, hanger steak, merguez, steak, thick cut bacon,
french fries, roasted tomatoes, Provencal dressing). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting this if truly want to sample all the meats. The thick cut bacon so good it will make you cry...in fact all the meat will...so cooked to perfection. The merguez was nice an spicy. Oh man you will not be sure which one you like the best. We didn't go to crazy with our wine choice a reasonable 05 Bordeaux Superieur,Ch Ribebon $36. It did compliment most of our meats, but i think if I go again i might spend an extra $10-$20 and get a bordeax with alittle more substance to it..ours was kinda weak and light..then again it was the least expensive. For dessert my friend had a craving for Crepes. On the menu they only have Crepe Suzette. We asked if the kithchen could just get us some Crepes with chocolate and banana. I will say this...they were most acommodating..the pastry chef had some fun with this and it came to our table like a piece of art. DELICIOUS!! Service was great all night (they were busy), but we were greeted warmly , our drink orders were taken and brougt to us promptly. Between our waiter, another server working a nearby section, and the bus boys...someone was always there to make sure you received what you needed. There is no doubt in my mind why Les Halles consistenly gets such respect...its ROCK SOLID...and i can't wait to go back and try that thick cut bacon again (mmmm..bacon)
Pros: Flavorful Meat Dishes, Thick Cut Bacon, Excellent Service
Cons: Anthony Bourdain ...i'm kidding

We went to Keen's while in NYC to celebrate our 1st anniversary. I chose it because it specialized in two things my husband loves, steak and Scotch. They have over 30 different Scotches, and he was like a kid in a candy store. The food was amazing. He had the Kansas City Sirloin, I had the mutton chop. Both were huge and some of the best meat we'd ever tasted. What a great romantic evening in New York! Money well spent!
Pros: Outstanding food, servicde, atmosphere
Cons: Price, but well worth it
