I would come here with my husband to eat sushi sometimes since we live in the neighborhood. We still believe in the optimal health benefits of fish!
Except the weekends, it does get lively with customers, but during the weekdays I feel quite comfortable going because it is not very crowded and so I dont have to squeeze myself to get around. And recently I have been noticing some changes with the sushi, and it isnt a bad change. I guess they are trying to test and trial still, but comparing with other Japanese restaurants we would visit, this place is my favorite becuase on top of being good, it is reasonable pricings. It gives me and my husband some money left in our pockets to explore other dishes in the menu. But we have tried most of the food in that restaurant now that I hope they would have more additions to the menu.

This place is Awesome,
I enjoyed a nice glass of red Spanish wine which the bartender recommended. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is authentic. I presented a Coupon from Citysearch which gave me 30% off of my dinner bill.
Now that is an Economic Stimulus Plan that I did not have to wait for. Pay less taxes, create more jobs, the government is telling me it will get better. It just got better by finding Sol y Sombra. The business owner is obviously in touch with what is going on, and he is taking action which is immediate. Thank You! Now, it is time for me to plan a group night out where all of my friends can enjoy the same as I did.
Pros: Atmosphere, Music, Great Wine Selection, Authentic Spanish Food, Value

We are a company from Sweden who visited NY for a few days in October, and had a dinner at Casaville. The service was great and as soon as the drink was near to end, they asked for a new order. 11 of us had the Tapas and we were happy, but the Paella as 2 of my colleagues had, was even better. One of us had the bass and he was euforic. They also know how to make a pretty good Sangria.
Our waiter was really competent and answered all our questions in a proffessional way.
Pros: Service, Sangria, Tasty
Cons: -

Frankly, I was amazed when I read the last two reviews. We've been going here for 30 years, and it is the same chef, and really wonderful, wonderful food. The atmosphere is exactly reminiscent of restaurants you would eat in while in Spain. Their lobster in green sauce, shrimps plancha (shrimp in lots of garlic), and especially their chicken villaroy are especially terrific. They have many specialties, all extremely tasty. Their white sangria is also wonderful. Whenever we have friends visiting (which is all of the time), the first place they want to go to eat is always Malaga. Anna(the hostess/manager), Eddie, Paco and the rest of the staff always make us feel so welcome- they don't know what to do for us!!!
If you have never eaten there, most definitely try it- you will go back repeatedly.
Pros: Food, drink, friendliness of staff
Cons: can't think of any

I love Costa Del Sol. I have yet to find a better place for seafood (especially for the prices they offer.) The sangria is well made - not just wine with fruit in it! The service is impeccable, and the decor makes you feel like you are in the best restaurant in a small country town. Hells Kitchen is luck to have this gem, to which I have been a loyal customer since 2000. It's great for a solid meal with family and friends, or for a calm, romantic dinner that does not require a reservation. The camarones al ajillo and the paella are AWESOME. The calamari is damn good, too. My mouth is watering as I write this.
Pros: The seafood is great!
Cons: too far from my house :)

go for the tasting menu. genius plays on food, backed by impeccable cooking techniques. the range of it! From "ha ha that's so freakin' clever" to "that really shouldn't work, but they do." easy spottings if ur a chefophile. the cocktail menu is off the hook. they've been flexible to slight changes without compromising the integrity of the food. go there.
Pros: amazing service, food + drink.
Cons: absolutely nothing

Great neighborhood spot where live & dj world music (including Afro/Hindi/Carib beat) connect folks with East Village mix (all welcomed to the heat). Gracious host Chris and talented bartends including Toni, Carolyn & Jo keep it friendly.
Pros: ambience;sounds both live & spun
Cons: intimate space (or is this also a pro?)

I enjoy Mesa De Espana because they have good food & service. No attitdes, posers or being rushed to finish a meal. This is an ideal place to go if you enjoy eating a good meal, drinking great wine in a relaxed casual enviroment. They have some great fish/meat selections- they offer a varied menu beyond paella. If your looking for a scene, this is not the place.
Pros: casual quaint charm, sangria, vast menu options

I had the opportunity to eat at Fredrick's Downtown last night. The food was delicious. My understanding is that the head chef took over about a year ago, and has done a great job changing some of the menu items and creating a better eating experience. I started off with the Mushroom Truffle soup. I really like mushrooms and mushroom soup, but this dish was a step above any mushroom soup I have ever had. Great does not even start to describe it. My wife had the French Onion soup, and liked it as well. I had the encrusted pork chop and enjoyed it. The seasoning was just right, and it was done just right. My wife had the scallops, and while I am not a big scallop fan, these were delicious. They had really nice seasoning and were cooked in pieces of bacon, which gave them an excellent flavor. I had the house cabernet with dinner, and it was a really nice wine (not too sweet and not too dry). We tried several desserts, which were all delicious. The service was quick and very friendly. I highly recommend giving Fredrick's Downtown a try. The menu is different enough that it sets it apart from other NY establishments, but it is still easy to find something for every taste and appetite.
