Oliva is my favorite tapas restaurant in the city. The food is amazingly tasty. When you go there, you will notice that there is no salt or pepper in sight, and that is because the food is perfectly flavored if you appreciate the taste of a wide variety of spices in your food. I cannot count the times that I have been there. Since discovering it with my boyfriend a few years ago, it quickly became our special treat when we wanted to go out. They also have a band that plays almost every day, and it does get very loud in there, but it creates a wonderful and fun atmosphere. The staff is friendly and pleasant, and they do not pester you with the constant ?how is everything?? that one tends to get from most other restaurants leaving you to enjoy your meal, your company, and the lively band. I love it there.

This restuarant is worth it. I recently flew to New York from Miami on a business trip. This last tuesday I went in to Mercat for a business dinner and was blown away. The food was great, and the service was even better. Anyone who wants an evening of pure bliss should head to this tapas joint

Since a lot of you have thrown light on the restaurant’s interior and lack of space I am compelled to bring to your attention the uniquely, delicious food served there. In my life I follow one principle “Never eat an insignificant meal” and places like Graffiti make it possible for me to stick to it. I read the reviews and decided to go and visit the place. This was a year back and I have been hooked since then. The pork dumpling with the tomato-chilly sauce, the grapefruit confit and fried chickpea flour just leaves you wanting more. Not to mention the much praised braised pork buns and crab noodle rolls which I recommend very highly to all first timers. The whole restaurant and the food served are in such harmony that the place exudes warmth which, according to me, I find lacking in a lot of places. I feel his principle of “less is more” reflects in all the preparations. The portions are just right and stress is given on the flavors, taste and preparations.
Whenever I see Chef Mehta cooking on The Next Iron Chef I cannot help wondering if he is going to put this preparation on the menu. I just hope he does because he can count on me to come and taste it.

Tapas Lounge WAS a wonderful, place, with tasty if overpriced food and wine, in a Mission-style atmosphere where it looked like Zorro could swoop in at any momento--been there maybe 80 times in the five years I lived down the street in that 'hood. BUT--it was closed last time I looked!

So I threw a surprise party at this restaurant a few months ago...I had never been inside the place, but I heard it was great.
I called them up, planned the entire party over the phone, had a cake from Baskin Robins delivered there, and then just showed up with the birthday girl!
All 20 of our friends were already there, and eating lots of salad, bread, sausages, ribs, and enjoying pitchers of Sangria.
Everyone is given appetizers listed above for free, and then you can order your heart out. The meals are HUGE and delicious. I highly recommend the Paella, or the Shrimp in Green Sauce.
Sangria is outrageous, and the service is great....
The are ready to fill your glass of water, sangria, or bowl of fritas at a moments notice.
I took my parents and family there this weekend, and we all agreed... AMAZING!
My favorite Spanish Restaurant in the city!
Pros: Food, Service, Drinks

We were tourists, first time in NYC from Minneapolis. After wandering around the village for a few hours Sunday, we were looking for a place to eat our last night in New York. Our cabbie mentioned a place by "Small's Jazz Club" but we ended going in Cafe Condesa by accident, instead of the French restaurant that he mentioned. And boy was that ever a mistake that turned out positive. The atmosphere is comfy, cozy, hip, & friendly at the same time. The food was amazing. We sat at the stainless silver counter since the only table open was by the front door, and was a little chilly from people coming and going. My girlfriend and I started with the butternut squash soup, and ravioli appetizers, then we moved onto the steak filet and the scallops. The guy working the counter recommended a glass of wine that went perfectly with the steak. Everything was like a little mouthful of joy. :) We ended with the chocolate souffle and cappuccino's, and left comfortably full and content in the fact that this place was the perfect restaurant to end a vacation on. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in NYC. If I lived there, I'd be there at least once a month. Yes, it's that good. I hesitated even writing this because I don't want to have to stand in line for hours next time I go, as the secret about this hidden gem gets out...
Pros: Wonderful food, romantic, friendly staff, great coffee and wine.
Cons: Not really a con - but not for large groups, small children, or high maintenance diners. Limited beer list

Definitely found one of my new favorite spots. The food was fantastic.
We went on a tuesday night and got there around 7:30 for drinks first. It was a little quiet when we got there but by 8:30ish or so the whole place was busy and the atmosphere was great. We sat in the downstairs which seemed to have a different vibe from what I can tell of the upstairs.
I had the scallops to start which were a special and the lamb for dinner. The lamb was cooked perfectly and very juicy.
Service was great. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. Just an overall enjoyable great dinner.
Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere
Cons: none

I walked by Casa Havana and saw the sign Paella $10.95 I could not believe it because every restaurant I have visited for paella goes for over $22.00 per person.I tried it and it was as good as some of the top restaurants that serve paella. As I looked around at least a third of the customers were eating paella.oh I forgot that with a glass of wine its $14.95 Great find in Chelsea.
Pros: more food and more food
Cons: too much food

I recently stumbled upon this place for a friend's birthday celebration. It is cozy with a classic european kind of feel. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had the octopus to start, which was great. I followed up with some delicious snapper. The chocolate cake was the best i've had in ages. If you're looking for a crazy scene, this probably isn't the place for you, but for a mellow or romantic dinner with truly tasty food, definitely check out pao.
Pros: Kind staff, cozy ambiance, great food
