One of the "must dos" for every native New Yorker is to skate at this rink, in the evening, under "The Tree" when it snows in NYC.
This has got to be the most romantic setting in the city, and while it is costly to rent scates and might even hurt the first few times you fall, there is no experience like it for a couple in NYC.
Take your honey, whether you skate or not, down to the rink in the snow at least once. You can stand up top and watch, and snuggle warmly in the shadow of The Tree and enjoy the lights and the laughter and the music.
A "must do" item for anyone visiting NYC.

This is a popular skating rink in New York City. Probably one of the best, if not already the best. Skaters pay a flat fee to get in and they can skate all day. The center of the rink is reserved for professional skaters who want to practice tricks.
When there are large crowds, the rink gets re-iced a lot more often. That's not good because it takes up a lot of time to do. So although this is a good rink, the crowd really can be a hassel sometimes.
During the summer this place is turned into a tiny carnival type place. They have small rides and games, all for kids though.

I love roller blading here. Between the fresh air and the view of the water, the smooth surface and the silly music, his place is always fun. Of course, I'm a coward who can't stand to rollerblade on uneven pavement, so I'm always looking for rinks like this. The price is right too -- very cheap, and even skate rental if you don't own isn't bad at all.
