We went here for our engagement dinner, and it was perfect. The place was crowded (which I equate with good food), but it wasn't very loud. We were seated in the room that leads to the balcony, and the christmas lights were lit. That, the candles, and the flowers on the table, set the perfect romantic mood. The restaurant only offers prix fixe (at least when we went), and I don't remember exactly what we got, but it was very, very good. All in all, a perfect night and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: Great food, very romantic ambience
Cons: A bit pricey (2 dinners, 1 glass of wine = $250)

I went to Blue Water Grill last night, for my husband?s birthday. We had a table in the jazz room. Excellent atmosphere, a little crowded and noisy for my taste, but acceptable considering what it was coming. Their food is AMAZING! Their Chilean sea bass is perfectly prepared. This fabulous tasting white fish is served on a bed of greens drizzled with soy sauce and accompanied by a pyramid of sticky, flavored white rice which gives this delicate and flaky, buttery and mild fish an Asian twist. The crab cake is melting in your mouth. In my opinion, it is the best I?ve had in NYC. The freshly made potato chips are adding a crisp note to the softness of the extremely fresh crab meat. The calamari is served on a bed of cilantro leaves and grated carrots, drizzled with a perfectly matching sauce. The music is fine and completes the atmosphere. What I didn?t like was the hostess?s sour face and the waiter?s service. In the end, the complimentary champagne drinks were offered to make up for the little unexpected behavior of our server and for the uncomfortable table setting that we were assigned for the evening. A little bit more attention to that would make the place perfect, and who is not thriving for perfection these days?
Pros: food
Cons: sour hostess and rude waiter

I had a great dining experience last Saturday; I had to book a party for my sisters 26th birthday last minute since the other restaurant cancelled my rsvp. Anyways, we arrived a few minutes earlier and we seated at the bar. The pisco sours are incredible....then when were seated at this amazing table in the downstairs area. We since we had 14 people in the party we order family style and share some delicious tapas and ceviches. at the end the waiter brought us a round of shots on the house. he also helped us with the selection of dishes for the table.
i would recommend arriving earlier so that u can experience the way we did. i had a great dining experience last saturday, i had to book a party for my sisters 26th birthday last minute since the other restaurant cancelled my rsvp. I went to la sirene on a monday night (mon+tues, the chef is there). i've heard so many good things about the goat cheese tart and the escargot, that i decided to try it. i normally am not a big fan of cheese or tarts, and i've never had escargot in the past...but hands down...these 2 were absolutely amazing, and quite frankly - the best thing i've ever eaten in my life in NYC. that's a huge statement, but it is 100% true. the escargot was soft, in a olive oil/pesto-esque sauce that i could not just waste - i had to dip the bread in it and it was just finger licking good. the goat cheese tart was the BEST of the best - i can order 2 of those and have them all by myself. we also ordered the lamb in a wine/cream reduction (delicious) and a special with beans/bacon/duck (great, but not exceptional). the 4 veggie sides that come with the entrees are really good as well - the sweet potato mash, pineapple, and 2 other veggies that i don't know the name of but was really tasty. we shared the profitoles for dessert. it was perfect - the vanilla ice cream was really cold and not too hard, not too soft...the chocolate covering them was the real thing - bittersweet quality chocolate. i would recommend this place to everyone - in fact i kinda want to keep it a secret and only tell a few people for fear that it might get too popular, which would make getting seats there more difficult! when i go back, i think i need to have the goat cheese tart and escargot at every visit, and maybe try new entrees - at this point, i think whatever they serve will be absolutely delicious. even when you enter the restaurant - you don't know what they are cooking, but it smells amazing in there. the chef and waitress was so nice and charming. it was really one of the best (if not the best) dining experience i've ever had in NYC.
Pros: hospitable, charming chef/waitress, delicious food, BYOB
Cons: nothing
