Ruby Foo's is a great place to take your family before a Broadway show. The food to mee seems a bit more "fusion" than authentic Chinese food. The presentation is beautiful and they have really unique drinks (I had a pumpkin martini there in the fall and it may have been the best drink I've ever had.) They have nice sushi and the entrees are varied and unique, but you can do just as well at a 'regular' Chinese food restaurant a few blocks away on 9th Avenue and save yourself a lot of money. If you're looking for a fancy place to impress your date or your parents, this is the place. Make reservations though, this place is very busy.

The food is delicious and drinks are great, but a bit pricey for what you get. It's a great place to go for a celebration with a group of friends, but if you're going out with that special someone for a romantic treat, you're better off choosing a different place!

Good drinks, terrific food, and a hip atmosphere make Ruby Foo’s a great spot for a celebratory evening. Just about everything on the menu is fabulous. For big groups, it’s fun to order different dishes and share them. The waiters, rather than charging extra, give you lots of plates to make it easier. If you're on a date, request a quiet booth or a corner table, as it gets a bit loud.
Chose the Upper West Side location over the Times Square one, which is too big and filled with corporate groups and tourists.
Note: This is a BR Guest restaurant, so you can use those gift cards.

I have had quite a bit of sushi in the city and this place ranks at the top. The fish is extremely fresh and the flavors are delicate and savory. I highly recommend the Baja role and the spicy tuna. I will definitely be coming back here. They even have Kirin on tap, a really smooth tasting beer. It's a full bar and the service is decent.
