I and some clients dine once or twice a month at this place. Today when the waiter brought the salads there were several dozen insects that came flying out!!! The waiter and the bus boy stood over our table swating the bugs!!! As the meal progressed I wish I had brought a whisle to get the attention of the waiter. They all stood in a group talking and generally ignored us. This is indicative of how an establishment starts going down hill and the owners don't have a clue why the business is going down hill.
Pros: food is nicelt prepared
Cons: insects flying out of salad

My husband and I recently had a long special weeked in Manhattan. Part of it was supposed to be dinner at Tribeca Grill, The poor service started at the door with a hostess who told us to come back closer to our reservation time instead of suggesting a cocktail at the bar, sitting at a dirty bar for 10 minutes ,a full 10 minutes until I finally cleared the dirty dishes away myself, having said hostess forget who we were when we did check back 3 more times ,before finally leaving without dinner, it was a very disappointing experience, When we had checked our e-mail the next day in Times Square, the restaurant had cancelled our reservation as we were sitting at the bar waiting to be sat, Did I mention we're both chef's and fellow restaurant owners? I'd like to say it left a bad taste in my mouth but unfortunately it left no taste in my mouth.
Cons: service was awful

We recently visited NYC on vacation. I was looking forward to eating here and planned a night just for this. I made reservations and were told dress was casual. When we arrived, few people were there and we got seated in a back area (away from the views of the restuarant), next to the bathroom (which is a hole). We had a view of the kitchen entrance. I was seated right next to a drafty window and it was not comfortable. I was very disappointed at the seating and was wondering why we got seated in a room in the back with no one else around. Also, can they not afford to heat the place? They could have easily seated us elsewhere. I was surprised at the prices, since there really was nothing special about the restaurant. The food is not that great. Serving a decent portion would be a start? $30 bucks for pasta? We had two of the cheapest meals and an appetizer and go out of their for over a hundred bucks. Expect to pay if you have more! It's really a bit uppity, and I regret not choosing another place with better service, table location and prices. If you go here, you will be paying for the hype.

I have come to eat at Tribeca Grill a handful of times, and I have very much enjoyed each of my experiences! In fact, I brought my father, brother, and sister here last week to have dinner for my father's birthday. Both my brother and sister live in the city and have never eaten here before. Everyone was impressed with both the service and the food. Entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and immediately shown to our table, Within five minutes, our waiter came to take our drink orders and was both friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The food was also great! My sister loved her crabcake appetizer, and my crispy sweetbread and mushroom salad was delicious; at the waiter's suggestion, my father ordered the duck breast, and he also very much enjoyed his meal. I have only positive things to say about Tribeca Grill, and I always enjoy eating here.

Hubby, 2 friends and I went for Restaurant Week. We waited at the bar until our table was ready (we didn't wait long) which I would imagine would be a great place to do happy hour or just meet for drinks. This place is full of people hoping to spot Bobby, but you get his paintings instead. The bathroom is DOWNstairs and the overall atmosphere was decent. The service is just ok, they were really busy and I wouldn't fault our waiter for anything. The food: Everyone enjoyed their salads (couldn't be that had to get wrong), 2 had the african sea bass which was good - needed something else, 1 had the short ribs, the other steak which were both above average. The creamed spinach that accompanied the steak was dreadful - it must have been frozen. Save your money and don't order dessert - go somewhere else. Nothing exciting to write about tastleless chocolate cake. There were a few large groups dining and is probably a nice place to take out-of-towners looking for a downtown New York experience. It would not be worth for us to go back, but would recommend to others just to check out for themselves.
Pros: Drinks were well made
Cons: Very average food

I had friends in from out of town and agreed to meet them downtown for dinner. Unfortunately they picked the place and chose Tribeca Grill because it is in my neighborhood. As any New Yorker knows Tribeca Grill is a tourist restaurant. Almost all the patrons of this restaurant are from out of town with the majority coming from outside of the country hoping to see Robert Deniro. They won't. The restaurant week menu is worth the price but as any New Yorker knows Tribeca Grill offers the restaurant week prix fixe all year round for lunch and all summer until Labor Day every year. Why anyone would want to deal with an overwhelmingly overcrowded hot restaurant during the two weeks of restaurant week when they can have the same prix fixe meal for the same price all summer long is ridiculous. Great if you need pre-theatre fast food and rushed service. If not, don't go during restaurant week. Great wine list, mediocre food, hot dining room, erratic service.
Pros: lunch pre-fixe all year round. quick service
Cons: Hot dining room, erratic service. Primarily tourist destination

I came here w/ expectations that food would be decent and service would be average, but I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience. Restaurant week menus tend to be very boring but I was intrigued by the variety of choices. We were seated promptly for our 6:30 reservation, the place was getting pretty busy already but not packed. Our waitress was extremely friendly and made us feel very comfortable. We each had a glass of wine, and ordered the prix fixe menu with the addition of a jumbo lump crab appetizer which was very tasty. The cauliflower soup was yummy with a few seared (mini) scallops. The entree portiions were a tad on the small side, but presentation was nice and both the braised short rib and sea bass entrees was very good. For dessert we had the chocolate truffle cake and peach tart, both were delicious. Overall everything from service, to presentation, to food was very good. Can't say one bad thing. We'll definitely be coming back... especially since their prix fixe menu is all summer long.
Pros: Good service, good food, great value for the prix fixe menu!
Cons: can't say there are any!

The most positive adjective I can use to describe my first (and last) visit to Tribeca Grill is "underwhelming". I had wanted to go for a while and went for my b'day dinner this year. For the price, the food was sub-par and the service was just plain bad. I felt sorry for myself and my dinner companion as the evening was quite a disappointment.
There are thousands of restaurants in NYC...wish I had chosen another!

I recently went to Tribeca Grill with a group of girlfriends and we all enjoyed the experience. I had the lamb and it was delicious, a perfect medium rare. My friends had the filet of beef, the braised short ribs and the herb marinated chicken. I took bites from each of their plates and was very pleased with all of them, particularly the short ribs. This is saying a lot because both my mother and my friends mothers make phenomenal short ribs so I have pretty high standards when it comes to this cut of meat. For dessert, most of us had the creme brulee, which was great. I will definitely be going back!
