This was such a disappointment. My fiance and I went for restaurant week and thought it would be a really special evening. Maybe they felt that since it was restaurant week we could be treated quickly and coldly, but that hasn't been my experience anywhere else. Our first dish was a lovely strawberry like gazpacho that was asked THREE times if it could be taken us before we were done and while my fiance wasn't looking they actually did take it from him when a third was still left. The waitress was completely uncoversational. The courses came so quickly that it was clear they just wanted us out (although the place was 1/2 empty). One busboy hung around our table so often that before you finished your last bite he was clearing plates. The food itself was great, but the waitstaff eagerly awaiting our departure really lead to a completely unenjoyable experience. The couple next to us felt the same and we all laughed as we left that our 3 courses had taken 30 minutes to be served and eaten. Not very relaxing. I'll definitely not recommend this place or return. Most places we've been of this supposed caliber foster an enjoyable experience. Here - not so much. We eat out a lot - restaurant week or not - and Perry Street was not worth the trek at all. They should work on their people skills and allowing their patrons to enjoy their food.
Pros: Good food, nice wine list
Cons: servers that hang over your table wishing you to leave, meals rushed out too quickly

My sister took me here for my 22nd birthday. We had reservations for 6:30 and were greeted by a buitiful blonde hostess who seated us right away. Although we waited a little bit for the waiter to take our order and get us drinks, it was nothing to fuss about. Throughout the rest of the night, the service was impeccable. The food was absolutely amazing. Cooked to perfection, and as simple and complex as you would like a dinner menu to be- nothing more, nothing less. The portions were average size and the courses throughout the meal were served at the proper times. The wine list was had a great selection from around the world and of course ranging from $3,000 a bottle to the more sane price of $30-$40 per bottle. I also found the prices to be very accommodating. With Apps, a main course, dessert, and a bottle of nice wine the whole meal was $200 including the tip. The decor was clean and calm, with a lean towards the future. Overall, an absolutely delightful dinner and will go back in a heart beat!
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Busy

Me and my two friends decided to try Perry St for the first time after hearing a mutual friend rave about it. We arrived on time to our reservation at 8:00pm and the MaitreD was most professional, the hostess was super cute and engaging, not like other places where there are airheads at the door. since we were all together we sat down promptly, there was no wait at the door even though the place was packed. we sat in a cute corner table, cozy for us three, we could pretty much see everybody in the room, its spacious for a nyc restaurant were most tables are on top of each other, the server was warm and knowledgeable and you could tell she knew her food (possibly not an actress, he he) my friend who is really picky asked about everything and the waitress made everything sound great, when our food came , it was just as she had described it, we had the most amazing poached eggs with a little caviar and oh my god the tuna is beyond amazing. we men went for the meat so he had shortribs and I the lamb better than anything i've tasted in a long time. I don't think anything was salty at all. I think the dishes are well put together and really flavorful. the staff is cool and swift, not clumsy or apologetic. we give this a 10 if the rating counts. oh and get one of those funky homemade sodas if you are not an alcohol drinker...
Pros: the noise level, the comfortable seating, good, happy staff
Cons: only 2 bathrooms and the line to wait for them.

I came here on a recent Tuesday evening for a 7pm reservation. As we arrived early, we sat at the bar for a drink while we waited for the rest of our party. From the second we walked through the door, every member of the staff treated us with the utmost professionalism and an understated sophistication.
The space is open, airy and clean...and with the light shining in from the sunset, almost serene. I had the tuna appetizer, which was the highlight of the meal, the snapper which was delicious, although a touch too salty, and for dessert the passion fruit souffle whose tartness was balanced with the green tea ice cream. Overall, a very fine experience.
Pros: the space, service
Cons: expensive

I never write reviews but I had such a bad experience at this restaurant that I feel that I have to prevent other people form going. I am a local New Yorker and I eat at some of the best restaurants in the city. Our 8pm table was an hour late and the hostess refused to take blame for this problem and did not offer any alternative solution. The food was horrible - and I'm not just saying that because it was expensive and I was expecting more, but almost inedible. As people have said before, everything was so salty, I almost couldn't eat it. And lastly, while I had an hour to wait at the bar before my table was ready, the bartenders pour drinks into the 1 ounce measuring device, before pouring the alcohol into the glass. What kind of high-end establishment is so chincy with their liquor that they need to carefully measure out a vodka and tonic? This is inexcuseable. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and is in a "cool and trendy" location but the food and experience is not at all worth it.

I tried to dine in this restaurant on Saturday night with my boyfriend and parents. I never received a call from the restaurant telling me to confirm, but nevertheless called that morning to confirm because I know most restaurants want to hear from you. However, when we arrived, the hostess said, "Your reservation has been cancelled because we called you and you never called back to confirm." I told her nicely that both of those statements were incorrect and she replied "I guess the reservationist must have messed up. Sorry, but there are no tables." She told us we could eat in the waiting area seats, but we definitely did want to eat there, especially because this dinner was a Christmas present to my parents. Additionally, there was another couple there who got turned away for the same reason! I'm sure the food is good, but beware that they arbitrarily cancel reservations.

Having just dined in this establishment for the first time this past Saturday night, I cannot stop recommending it to my friends. Romantic atmosphere aside, the service was impeccable and the wine list not far behind. The appetizers were melt in your mouth good and were perfectly proportioned. We had the Tuna, Japanese Red Snapper Sashimi, and the Bibb salad- all had extremely well balanced flavors. Our entrees (the beef tenderloin and Red Snapper) were very well cooked, but overwhelmed with salt. Overall the experience was fantastic and we would certainly return to dine there again.

We had a 9:30 reservation...at 10:15 we were still told "just 5 more minutes"...we were never offered a complimentary drink for waitng & standing for sooo long...there were quite a few other people in the same situation...I think a restaurant at that level should NOT make you wait that long when you have a reservation or at least try to get you a seat & a drink... we just left.
