Jean George's Perry Street was beyond delightful. Dining there with a small group on a weekday night, the dining room was dimly lit and well spaced. The restaurant is located on the first floor of Meir's glass building, where one can view the West Side Highway. The service was great - friendly hostess and attentive servers and well informed waiter with great honest recommendations (I switched one of my choices and the recommended dish was delicious). With five individuals tasting 5 different appetizers, entrees and desserts... there was not one wrong step - everything was excellent. Some of the highlights include the poached egg (to die for), rice encrusted tuna, red snapper, lobster, lamb (nice portion size - 3 pieces), fig tart (good size), and poached pear. The only issue some folks may have is that it is pricey. With two drinks, an appetizer, entree and dessert, it came out to ~$100 per person... but it was well worth it. Great for an intimate dinner. Pros: Wonderful food, service and ambiance Cons: Pricey (but we knew that going in)

Dined at Perry Street this past Saturday night. Drinks at the bar (Mojito & Vodka Lemonade with Thyme) were great. Mojito was a bit strong & could use more sugar. Vodka was simply awesome. The thyme lemonade mixture was unique and a nice combo. Apps: Rare tuna was absolutely great married with the spicy sauce surrounding it. Calimari was tender inside with a course ground breading outside. Better paired with the tuna sauce. Mains: Chicken...WOW...another proprietary batter from JG encases a very flavorful & moist chicken breast and a thigh. We inquired as to the brand of chicken and were told it was an Antibiotic free chicken from FreeBird. Lamb was cooked to perfection. Sauce pairing was exceptional and created a wonderful flavor profile. Pink Cod was a bit bland but cooked to a flakey and moist perfection. A perfect date place or for that exceptional meal you crave. Right on the water. Easy to get too. Wonderful!! Pros: Easy to get too...Great Food...Great Service Cons: none

My friend and I ate here last night, had 6:30 rsvps. Funny, someone called while my friend said she was waiting for me and the hostess said they were fully booked! Meanwhile, half the place was empty. I think they do that to give the place a more intimate feel? I kinda liked that it wasn't packed, and we could chat without having to raise our voices to hear each other and getting attentive service from the staff. So maybe that's done on purpose? I don't know. But anyway, service was excellent and the menu was great. Lobster is the priciest dish ($46/48?) but it was SO GOOD. It's steamed (healthy!) with lemon aoili (so good), with 3 slices of potatoes (each cooked differently) and some veggies (Forgot what they are called, snow peas?). I also had the tomato soup for a starter and it was delicious!!! Came with some bread/cheese thing and the combination was flavorful. We were so full from our starter/entrees but managed to squeeze in the strawberry tart for dessert. Also very good. All in all a very nice dining experience! Expensive but a nice, adult place right by West Side Highway (saw the sunset from my seat). Oh, and the place had nice music/decor/ambience vibe to it too. Not too trendy and not overly stuffy. Great for a date or catching up with friends. Pros: Lobster dish, tomato soup, ambience, service Cons: kinda pricey for lobster

Not too hard with tomatoes and mozzarella, but the pickled peaches were a revelation. I'd go back for that alone. Arctic char and steamed lobster both really good. Desserts fine, but didn't live up to earlier food. Prices normal for fancy NYC place, I thought. So cocktails $12 and desserts $9, not $15 and $12. And very civilized, tables well-spaced, room to walk in on a MOnday night...

Tonight I ate at Perry Street with my husband and also my brother visiting from out of town. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant excited to return, as my husband and I had eaten a wonderful meal here last summer. As soon as we sat down, the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink, which was fine. However, we asked for the wine list and two minutes later while all looking at the wine list together, he asked what wine we wanted. After asking for a moment to make a decision, he quickly returned impatient for us to make up our minds. We selected a wine and immediately he asked what we wanted for dinner. He seemed quite irritated when we requested a little more time (but yet brought us the wrong bottle of wine). By the way, we ordered our dinner and wine by 6:10 after being seated at 6:00, yet this did not appear soon enough for him. The entire meal was rushed, and in addition, the waiter did not bring us the petits fours that every other table around us received. It is such a shame the waiter was so rude because the wine list is nice and the food is absolutely delicious, the char appetizer was fresh, the asparagus salad was flavorful and the short ribs were so tender. Enjoy the food, but be ready to race through a 3 course meal in just over an hour. Pros: Food, atmosphere Cons: SERVICE

Came here for the first time weds pm with a couple of friends and sat in the lounge. Ordered the calamari (definately the lightest and crunchiest I've ever had), the sashimi, crusted tuna, mozzarella and a lamb and it everything was truly awesome. Super fresh, perfectly seasoned, really simple but unexpected flavors. We loved it! Vodka lemonades were dangerously deliscious!!! Pros: place rocks!

Ate here on a recent Thursday night, peak time, and the room was only 2/3 full. I guess that's bad if you want the hottest scene, as some eating at a Jean Georges restaurant might, but not if you're looking for good and interesting food in a subdued ambience. The restaurant's look and feel made me think of a suave airport lounge in Zurich. There's a lounge w/ several tables at the entrance and the dinner tables are all well spaced. The menu is succinct, the food high end, and the prices not astronomical. My first thought was it would be a perfect date spot. I plan on going back, give it a shot.

Since I Love Nougatine, I thought why not try Perry Street. I read that they offered a great lunch special: 2 plates & dessert for $24, each additional plate for $12 we ordered: cream of tomato soup - delicious, had a nice little kick to it peekytoe crab salad - tasty though I felt there was too much going on, not sure I would order it again. Pan roasted chicken sandwich, speck, arugala & fontina - good but it also had quite a bit of tapenade which I hated, I had to scrape it all off My friend got the grilled shrimp which I didn't get to try bc but he said it was very good. for dessert i got the white chocolate & meringue, yuzu sorbet, mint - eh, not my style, didnt care for it the staff was very nice and the room had great views of the Hudson river. Not sure if it was worth the trek but I'm glad I tried it. *sigh* Back to Nougatine Pros: service, lunch deal Cons: out of the way

The food at Perry Street is amazing. I ended up being there during restaurant week and was very nervous to order off the restaurant week menu, but gave it a shot anyway since most of the items were on the al la cart menu as well. The food and drinks were great. The braised ribs were to die for and the sample of gazpacho they served was the best I've ever had. The restaurant week menu had a corn soup that was not on the regular menu... the should add it, it was so good! I found the atmosphere to be a little on the cold side. Everything is very white, simple and modern. Also, it was literally cold in the restaurant since the AC was on blast. Regardless, I would go there again. Pros: Food presentation, service, good cocktails
