We went there last night--for the first, and most assuredly, last time. STAGGERINGLY bad service. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers and main courses. By the time we were finished the appetizer, we still didn't have the wine. We reminded the waiter, and he rolled his eyes. He brought us the wine 25 minutes AFTER we ordered (place wasn't busy, either), so we said not to bother with the wine. He said to my husband (and I quote) "if it was a big deal why didn't you remind me"?!?!?!?! When my husband pointed out to the manager that the waiter had said that it was up to us to remind him about our order, the waiter quibbled further and said "that's not what I said, I said 'if it was a big deal, you should have reminded me'". Unreal. Then he told my husband, who was spitting mad by this point and trying to maintain calm in front of our children, that he should "look at him while he was talking to him". Manager obviously couldn't have cared less, though refused to let us pay for the appetizer. 3 or 4 of them just stared comatose at us when we asked for the name of the owner/manager.
The appetizer (calimari), by the way, was just OK--not great. Certainly not worth suffering through the horrible service.
We will NEVER again darken the door of Ecco-La (which we always thought was a little too close to E-coli for comfort) and suggest you follow suit. Make reservations and go to Sfoglia or head to Barking Dog for better service.
