Pastrami is the word...
This place screams New York to me. The hustle and bustle; the tourists and the natives; heck there was even a camera crew filming at the time and everyone was just going about their business.
You'll be given a ticket as you walk in and make sure you keep it as it's your only way out without paying $50 for having lost it. It's used to keep track of what you order.
There are multiple lines all along the counter depending on what you're trying to get. Being new here, it can be a bit daunting trying to figure out the sandwich line, versus the drink line versus whatever else line there is. But I guess you can bypass all of them if you decide on grabbing a table in the section where a waiter will serve you.
Just play it safe.. get in a sandwich line... when it's your turn order a pastrami.... they'll start slicing meat and give you a piece or two on a plate to taste... grab it with your fingers and put it in your mouth... savor the taste and anticipate the wonderful sandwich you're about to get... say "Yes" to the mustard... as he's finishing the sandwich, put your ticket on the glass case in front of the sandwich artist with a dollar or two tucked underneath to thank him for delivering this wonderful creation to you. He'll take it... make a note on the ticket..and give it to you with the sandwich. Find a table... eat the entire sandwich (if you can) and smile... you've found happiness... at least for today.

Pastrami heaven
In many ways this is the deli that time forgot. Generations of New Yorkers haven't though. This place is fantastic and is the epitome of New York, delis and pastrami. It's worth a major trip out of your way to experience, and once you do, you'll keep coming back for more.. Expect lines at peak times.

I'll have what she's having.
Katz's Delicatessen is a true New York City landmark. From the bustling counters to the busy tables packed with happy customers, Katz's is a must-do when in the Big Apple. This is the location where the famous salad scene in When Harry Met Sally took place, and you can actually sit at the table (it's labeled with a huge arrow). For tourists and locals alike, this is a fantastic spot to grab a pastrami sandwich and one of their famous dill pickles.

Fantastic Deli
Katz’s Delicatessen is the very definition of a “known ‘round the world” restaurant. They’ve been featured on dozens of food specials (they’re even in the opening credits of the Food Network’s “The Best of…” This is a great delicatessen with fantastic meats and the hot dogs are freakin’ great! To eat here is to fall in love with the place.

Pastrami that melts in your mouth!
This is place is far and away but well worth the journey. Every president since JFK has dined here and they have presidential letters from the white house to prove it on the window display. As you walk into the restaurant you'll notice that the decor is the same as from the 60's. The banners and menus are all retro. I would recommend ordering the pastrami sandwich as this is their best selling sandwich. This sandwich is 4 inches thick on 2 slices of white bread so no need for extra meat! This will probbaly be the juicest, most tender pastrami you'll ever taste and try their home made mustard with the sandwich. I ended up only finishing half a sandiwch and saving the rest for their... this sucker is huge.

a culinary delight and landmark
Katz is one of the oldest deli in the America, and possibly the oldest. There is one reason for that :the food. As great,of a selection Katz offers, which is also somewhat expensive, everyone goes there for one and only one plate: the pastrami. The pastrami sandwich is recommended platter of choice when you are there. It is succulent, tender, as well as a pocket breaker. Served normally with a slice of bread and pickles, the Pastrami sandwich is an orgasmic ride for your mouth.

Legendary Hot Pastrami!
I am not the first and definitly not the last to write a critic about this old fashined deli style place. Their signature sandwich is Hot Pastrami with mustard on Italian bread. So tasty you'll come back for more. Also outstanding are their French Fries. This place has been around for over a century and is a must for every New Yorker or tourist. Far from being fancy, and also from being clean (I must say) but who cares when the food is so good?!
about $12 per person. 1 Sandwich and 1 serving of fries is usually enough for 2 people. Home made pickles are free!
