The only drawback to this cute, southern-Jamacian inspired restaurant is that no matter what time your reservation is for, you will have to wait upwards of an hour. This said, once you get to your table, the service is great and the food phenomenal. One side of the menu specializes in Jamacian cuisine, the other side on Southern. If you like friend chicken, baked BBQ chicken, meatloaf (the way it was intended), catfish .. this is the place for you. The bonus? you can decide on your sides: and with spicy mac and cheese, grits and mashed potatoes (among other things) to choose from, get ready to embrace the carbs.

the margaritas are great and the food, particularly the jamaican food is really good.

I can think of 6 people off hand who credit Maroon's are one of their favorite restaurants in the city. The mac and cheese and fried chicken cannot be beat. Seriously the best collard greens I have ever had. Also, having been going there for about 5 years now, every server I have ever had was extremely nice and friendly. If anyone can convince Maroon's to hand over their corn bread recipe, please let me know.

I discovered this comfy little nook of a restaurant in Chelsea shortly after they opened and at the time was more than pleased with the combination of Southern American and Jamaican cuisine. I recently returned for dinner and was pleased to discover that nothing had changed. The appetizers, the entrées, the sides, the desserts still reminded me of growing up in Jamaica. I'll claim the south too, the food is that good! Service was exceptional and the owners still mingle with the diners and treat you like a visitor in their home. The biggest drawback is the size. Anything that you order is good, almost as good as my mother's.
