You may wonder why anyone would pay upwards of $6 for a bowl of rice pudding. Well, it's the rice pudding dining EXPERIENCE that you get at Rice to Riches, a hidden gem on the Lower East Side. The decor is fabulous, the servers are friendly, the dining bowls and utensils are oh so cute (and you get to keep them!). Oh, and did I mention - the rice pudding is AMAZING. The pudding comes in a variety of flavors, from "Understanding Vanilla" to "Coconut Coma". And, if you can't make it to the Lower East Side for your rice pudding fix, they have a delivery service, which I believe is free for those in the downtown NYC area. Even better, if you don't live anywhere near New York City, you can still have rice pudding delivered to your doorstep from Rice To Riches for a small shipping & handling fee. Enjoy!!!

I don't know if this is the place for everyone; with my experience I find that people either hate rice pudding or they love it. If you want good rice pudding in exotic flavors (although I'm not sure how often that craving actually comes up), Rice to Riches is the place to visit. I didn't know what to expect when I first tried rice pudding, but it is actually delicious. I love the look of the place as well, all white with splashes of color and hip with cool tables that hang down from the ceiling (although there are only three tables). Try the Hazelnut Chocolate Bear Hug or Almond Shmalmond.

So you haven't figured out a way to top off your Saturday or Sunday morning hangover-induced trip to dim sum? Stop at Rice to Riches on your way back uptown. They have finally made an extra small size that means one person can eat a serving and not explode on the way to the subway. With the littlest size, you can only pick one flavor of pudding though (for all other sizes you can mix at least two flavors). I go for chocolate chip almost every time. I know, I'm boring, but I just can't resist the combination of creamy rice pudding and little nuggets of cocoa.
But don't be like me - be adventurous! Don't be afraid to ask to try any of the flavors (they are always introducing new ones as specials). I have heard good things about Rocky Road & Lemongrass...one day I will try...
Don't come if you want adventurous beverages -- there is coffee or water!

my fave is their vanilla pudding with toasted brown sugar, nutty topping. SO YUM!! the place looks so cool and funky. great bowls and plasticware and i agree, it's a shame to see everyboyd just trash these high quality thick bowls and spoons. i save all of mine and reuse them, but itd be nice if they took in used bowls to reuse. price is pretty high, but a solo serving easily feeds two ppl.
Pros: delicious, cool space, nice service
Cons: price

Special dessert (rice ice-cream?), special interior decoration (modern art?), a must-go place even you are not interested in dessert.

It's rice pudding - that's all they serve. But it's amazing. Seriously. For $6 you get a pretty big dowl of the most delicious rice pudding that you could ever conceive of. They have like 30 flavors and they have a changing selection. I imagine that it is healthier than ice cream, but I have no way of knowing - they claim it is, though. Give it a shot at least once.

This ultra-clean futuristic-furnitured dessert place is definitely something new and tasty for rice pudding fans. You can buy about 50 different flavors of rice pudding - just make sure to ask for a taste beforehand so that you get the one you like! Even cooler is the little tupperware it comes in, which they let you keep.

The first thing that everyone always asks is, "How can a place like that stay in business?" Well, one taste and you'll know right away.
My favorites are the tasty maple, the rum raisin, and the hazelnut chocolate. You can get it warm, or have it cold. The "solo" size is $6, and you can get 1/2 one flavor and 1/2 another, if you simply must try two.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is amazing -- high tech, with incredibly witty signage. Definitely worth checking out!!!

Pros: food, flavors, ambiance
Cons: slightly pricey

NYC amazes me with its novelties, and here is another! A place that serves nothing but delicious, flavorful rice pudding. The staff isn't overly friendly, but they are far from the worst I've encountered. You can try the flavors before you make a choice. And yes, it is $6 for pudding, but the solo's are big enough to share, and besides...there aren't many places in NY where you can have such good (unique) desserts for this price! Also, if you aren't fortunate to grab a seat, there's a park across the street.
Pros: YUMMY!!!
