Let me preface by saying that I love rice pudding. If you are also a fan, then imagine a place totally devoted to providing you with dozens of yummy flavors of rice pudding. Not sure what you want? The staff will happily let you try ALL the flavors -- don't worry, they are used to it. The decor is hip, and the place is great for an after-dinner treat. I like this place so much, I make excuses to come down to Nolita just to stop by here.
The previous writer was correct in saying that you only get to pick one flavor if you buy a small, two if you get a medium, and I think you can get three if you buy the large. I guess asking for three flavors in the small container didn't fly.
Pros: The best rice pudding in the universe, hip envorinment, friendly staff will let you sample all the flavors you want
Cons: Not cheap

I was actually looking forward to visiting Rice To Riches. When I got there I was pleased with the atmosphere- very light-hearted and playful. When I saw they had my three favorite flavors I became quite excited to try them together. However, when I ordered the three flavors in the medium-sized dish, which is a lot of food, I was told no. The staff was not unpleasant but they said their policy is to allow only two flavors in one dish. This may not be a big deal but that is exactly why this "policy" is so ridiculous. I wasn't asking for anything extreme. I just wanted to eat my favorite flavor combination. I have never heard of such a strict policy regarding dessert food.
I left the store without ordering but my friend brought me some of the pudding later. I have to say it was tasty but not all that special. It was basically flavored pudding with lumps. I'm not saying that it is a bad thing but certainly not worth the price for me ($7.50 for the medium). I can make my own lumpy pudding for much less. I will stick with the gelato place down the street where they are happy to sell me what I want.

Okay, I wasn't a fan of rice pudding until my boyfriend exposed me to rice to riches, now I can't get enough of it! It's delicious and healthy well minus all the sugar. This is a rice pudding heaven. This is a very clean establishment and is very socially responsible. They provide all reusable containers and utensils (which is like a smaller version of a shoe horn). Generous servings are given and at only $4.50 - it's a feast for two. We ordered the smallest container and it was more than enough for the two of us. A family came in after us and ordered 2-3 of the biggest containers! Yikes ... they must love rice pudding!
Pros: rice pudding!!!

I actually really like rice pudding. But somehow I didn't find any of their puddings really appealed to me. I mentioned the place to one of my friends and was told it was a well known front for a drug operation or something like that. Just a rumour, but I did find the following link about the owner's involvement in an illegal gambling operation: http://www.gothamist.com/archives/2005/02/03/rice_to_riches_racketeering_ring.php

This is a nice little place. We stopped by here before a concert at the bowery for dessert and shared a bowl with two flavors and I have to say, it was certainly a cool experience. I can see it not being for everyone, but I thoguht it was yummy. Beware, if you have a little bit of ADD in you, you might catch yourself staring at the weird animations on the tv's and the anime-like design of the place.
Pros: it's rice pudding
Cons: seating sparse due to the size of the place

Nothing like HDTV menus to impress out-of-towners. Good treat, albeit horrendously bad for you.
Pros: Interior, Concept
Cons: Expensive

Saw it featured on Ellen and had to see it for myself. It lived up to all my expectations and then some. Just a great place! I'll be back....with a bunch of friends.

The interior design is modern and sleek with bold, bright colors. The bowls are fashionable. The names (Sex, Drugs, and Rocky Road) are clever and witty. The to-go containers are unbearably cute. And the portions are large. Rice to Riches makes rice puddings fashionable; with an endless amount of toppings comes an endless amount of possibilities.

There are so many flavors of rice puddings here, it's crazy. They have many toppings to choose from. I go here every now and then because rice pudding just seems healthier than ice cream. It's not extremely expensive, but pricey for rice pudding. However, I really do recommend you try this if you haven't yet; its popularity has been soaring recently.

I actually really hate rice pudding, but this place makes it tasty and edible (plus, my boyfriend really seems to like it). The decorations (or, as someone else here put it - 'Jetson'-style decor) are fun and help distract you from all the calories you're inhaling (note: while the term 'rice pudding' might sound healthier than other desert options, it most certainly is not when combined with rocky road and other crazy flavors!). I like to eat around the rice and enjoy the chocolate flavored goop it comes in, but if you're a true fan of rice pudding (and eat the whole thing), then I'm sure this place is for you. Fun variety and a good date place (with video entertainment on the walls if you run out of stuff to say).
