Went there for a friend's birthday a few days ago. The waitress asked if we're celebrating a birthday because she saw a wrapped gift and we said "yes" she said "ok". She didn't wish him a happy birthday nor did she put a candle on the desert. But that's not the problem. The problem was with the fish that we ordered. It was completely burned! We had to explain it to the waiter in detail that it was completely burned and the waiter was hesitant to take it back. After waiting another 20 min we were brought chicken, which was dry but eatable. The restaurant week special is a joke. We paired it with 3 glasses of wine and they brought out 1/5 of the glass all 3 times. The place is nicely decorated, but that's about it! It gets 2 stars for cool decorations and 1 star for food. I would not recommend!

I was always a fan of Kittchai...great service, great people. great food....and then fast forward to tonight. I am moving to Chicago in 2 weeks and I chose Kittichai as the restaurant of choice for one of my farewell dinners. Well I arrived tonight anxiously awaiting the delicious food, when I made the mistake of going to the restroom before I even looked at the menu. Turns out the first toilet I went in was gross, so i had to go into the other stall and as I opened the door I stepped into a little surprise. YEP...there was human poo on the floor which I stepped right in. I was not aware that I would have had to watch my step upon entering stall #2. I was totally grossed out and had to wash my Gucci heals in the sink. So I head back to the table to tell my friends and the waiter and then I headed to the front of the restaurant to tell the waitress. They quickly closed and cleaned the bathroom. I ended up staying to eat only to not even be given a complementary meal. Not that I expected it, but after stepping in human poo in the bathroom I would have expected to be treated like a queen for an evening. Upon leaving, I confronted the hostess who stated they can not control what customers do in their restroom....however they can control how they treat their paying guests who unexpectedly step in human poo in their restroom. I not only thought this was in poor taste, but I will NEVER STEP FOOT(no pun intended) into their establishment again and I would hope everyone who reads this never does either!!!!!
Pros: good food
Cons: dirty bathrooms and poor service

I went to Kittichai last night for restaurant week and had a great experience from start to finish. I got a glass of rose wine, while I waited for my table. I wouldn't reccommend the rose, but I had lichee martinis once seated and they were off the charts delicious and strong. :) We started with mussels in chili lemongrass broth, really good, a tad too spicy for me but my date was loving the chilis and the mussels were fresh and plump. My appetizers was A-MA-ZING! I am still thinking about it. Tuna tartare, really nice presentation, they give you these little pastry cups with peanut inside and then tartare is separate and the chili coconot sauce is separate you put it together yourself and eat each one as a perfect bite. Hello! Party in my mouth, what an interesting and wonderful flavor combo. For entrees we had seafood boulebaisse, which was pretty small and nothing to really write home about, but the short ribs in green curry sauce was sooooooooooo awesome. Dessert was incredible too, banana spring rolls with burnt honey ice cream, is a must have, and the flourless chocolate cake with fresh cream was pretty good too. And the cool vibe of the place makes for a great night out. Very friendly service too. I would go back in a second. This is def one of my favs now.
Pros: awesome food, drinks and atmosphere, Fun&sexy
Cons: maybe the prices, but hey I still think its a great place. Don't get rose wine by the glass

This bar is a reminder of why I left New York and couldn't be happier about that. If it weren't for my present company, the night would have been a complete loss. The drinks are very good, but they should be for $14 a drink. The hostess couldn't have been any ruder and let us know immediately that we were lucky to be allowed to spend our money there. We were moved 3 times from unreserved tables and even had our chairs taken from under us and added to reserved tables from which they were never a part. We easily spend 5xs as much as the people who took our tables, since they were there for 30 minutes each having a glass of wine or seltzer. Doesn't seem like a good business model to me. The majority of the crowd was old and weird as well. This place could be fun if you don't intend to sit and just want to be there for a quick drink. I would never go there again.
Pros: Good drinks.
Cons: Pricey and terrible customer service.
