I don't know if it was just the marketing angle preying on my mind and empty stomach, but several friends and I tried this place (9th Ave & 42nd Street location) and all swore we'd never had such a great burger. It was fast, fresh and delicious, and there were plenty of options for those who didn't want beef. I had a standard cheesburger, fries and fountain soda and could not have been happier. A friend tried one of their juice blends and raved. The place also scored big by offering varieties of spiced ketchup -- the curried version was excellent!
It's rare that I go anywhere with a group and everyone ends up not only satisfied but also enthusiastic about their meal. A burger, fries and drink will cost a few dollars more than the fast food equivalent, but the health factor and overall pleasant experience is worth it.

Better Burger is an attempt at fast food that isn't terrible because they emphasize nicer ingredients and more organic and wholesome menu items. Plentiful salads are on the menu, topics for burgers include vegetables - and the food is pretty good. Even the oven fried french fries are yummy. The food is not amazing, but it is nice and makes you feel less bad about eating take out burgers, so I'd definitely try it again.

Try here. It a step in the right direction, that is for sure. The staff is friendly and you'll feel a bit less guilty about chowing down. Their sauces are actually the real stars here, not the meat or chicken. Oh, and if you love mashed potatoes, it's worth a trip here for them alone.

I'm a big fan of Better Burger because of the wide array of toppings available and the fact that the meat doesn't come in pre-shaped patties but looks and tastes as if it were cooked by actual humans (since it is).. I also love their chicken sandwiches, which oddly are the closest thing to a similar "healthy fast food" type place I went to in Sydney a lot -- great spices, no tomatoes, lots of avocado. Definitely worth checking out.

There are many choices for burgers in New York, from Kobe beef to the grilled under a hubcap variety. Better Burger is on the "healthy" end of the spectrum (many non-beef options and air popped fries)!
These burgers are not cheap, but not wallet-breaking either. Not a whole lot of seats (I get the feeling they do a heck of a delivery business), but most customers are out of there in 20 minutes or less. The pleasant staff and great condiment bar earn this spot 4 stars.
