For starters, I had to call the morning of our dinner & add 2 more people to our reservation. I gave our last name & mentioned our reservations were either for 8 or 8:30. I was rudely spoken to by the lady that answered the phone with a "heavy italian accent" (I really hope it wasnt lidia herself...even though it sounded very much like her). She said "I cannot believe how someone doesnt know what time their dinner is, how come you dont know", spoke to me like I was 5 years old, & told me to get a pencil & write it down!!! Very nasty on the phone. We arrived at dinner, we were 6 people & ordered 8 entrees (which are not cheap) & originally asked them to split one of the pastas. I guess when it came to the table, they had forgotten, (no big deal), so we asked them for an extra plate or split it for us. The waiter gave us a very nasty look & never came back. Then he insisted on giving us dessert menus, & when we decided not to, he rolled his eyes & abruptly walked away. It was not much of a friendly atmosphere. Lidia did make an appearance & greeted each table. The experience from the employees all day, just did not make the experience pleasant. The food was good, but not worth going back for. We go out to all great restaurants of NYC...I wouldnt go back. Definately had better italian food, with a friendlier experience. If you go, dont expect too much from the service.
Pros: lidia showed up...whoop de do!!
Cons: horrible staff

Maybe good food lousy management with the staff, not accomadating, very ridgid , refuse several requests for a regular menu. They insisted we take the tasting menu. A real bad experience. Sent a letter to Lydia in October of 2006 Today is March 21, 2007 still no PR respinse something like we are sorry etc. Good food does not a resturant make. As a tag ling after about 15 miniutes of trying to resolve the matter and being told our way or the highway, we chose the highway. One secnond later the manager comes back and changes his story. Is this brinkmanship or plain stupidy? There are plenty of great resturants in NYC that appreciate your busniess, patronize one of them. So long Lydia enjoy your TV show.

Every year my wife and i go with 2 other couples on valentines to a restaurant of our choice. It has to be top notch. We do a lot of research and choose carefully. This year we picked Felidia's. All 3 couples are huge Lidia fans and could not wait. This Valentine's Day there was a big ice storm but it did not keep us back. We were greeted warmly, seated promptly and served with much attention and great care. Emilgio was wonderful.
Lidia was there and made it a point to come and greet us as well as sign our cookbooks and take pictures. The food beyond great. I have gone to all the best in NYC and Felidia's is on the the top of my list. It is expensive but it was the first time our wives said it was worth every penny. Lidia is so classy with a wonderful smile that reflects the love she has for her food and her restaurant. DON"T LISTEN TO ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS GO AND ENJOY
Pros: great location, warm and attentive, top notch food and personal touch LIDIA
Cons: NONE

Having lived in Rome for a period combined with being a child of an Italian-born parent, I have become quite cynical regarding Italian cuisine outside of the homeland. However, Felidia did not disappoint and per norm, Lidia did make an appearance. I enjoyed several courses over a period of 4 hours and felt I could have stayed for 4 more. The service was impeccable and the unique cuisine delectable. You will not find anything "parmigiana" here.

I can't begin to express how much I loved the food at Felidia. Yes, it's expensive, but I think it's well worth it, especially for a special night out. We had the chicken liver trifolati (which is chicken liver served three ways). Served with polenta and fois gras. Unbelievably delicious and unique. We also had the grilled octopus, less exciting but good. And what makes this restaurant stand out is the outrageously good pasta- We had the Porcini stringozzi with mushrooms, rabbit, and black truffles. My eyes tear when I remember how divine that was. We also had the 30-yolk spaghettini with braised moulard duck. Also incredibly delicious. We simply had no room left for dessert. But we'll no doubt be back soon. Highly recommend this place.
Pros: Delicious Pasta
Cons: Expensive

I was utterly shocked to see so many negative reviews about this restaurant. I went online after I went there expecting everyone to be raving about it. Clearly many people writing these reviews have no idea what good food and excellent service consists of. I am a tough critic of food and have lived and dined in NYC for my entire life and this was one of the best restaurants I have been to here as well as in any other city for that matter.
The staff was so attentive, knowledgeable and eager to assist you in any way you desire. The food was nothing short of sensational and mouth watering. The menu is different and not the typical italian that most of these people writing negative comments are probably used to. If you have dull taste, this is not the place for you. Worth the money.

My family and I recently went for dinner at Felidia's and was deeply dissapointed. The food was VERY salty, and the service was atrocious and despicable. When my father is spending more then $500, we would have appreciated a more accomodating staff. There was also a very tall male waitor on the second floor that was absolutely rude. Don't they teach their staff how to pour water or wine? They also gave us the wrong check, TWICE. I have no idea why this is considered one of the nicer Italian Restaurants in the city. I would have had recieved better food and service from Sbarros.

I was happily surprised by my family for my bday to go to Felidia's. For those of you, who are fans of her show, I think you'll be surprised by the overall attitude of the service. This restaurant is not good for kids or groups. The tasting menu was good but for the price way too much pasta and few meat or seafood selections. The food was great. The service was poor. Although, some wait staff tried a little harder than others. When you pay that kind of money, you really want the whole experience. And, you don't get that!

My husband and I live in the neighborhood and went here for a special occasion. Although the food was top-notch, the service really needs work. We ordered a bottle of wine a few minutes after we were seated. After it did not arrive and we had started our meal, we inquired about it. A waiter looked me in the eye and said we did not order wine, as if to infer we were making this up. Apparently one of the other waiters had taken the wine order and had forgotten it. We did not mind the confusion, but I thought it was terrible that instead of apologizing, he was challenging us on ordering it in the first place. It would be nice if they didn't have such an attitude with their guests. If they were more gracious, dropping a few hundred dollars on dinner here would have been worth it.
Pros: food presentation
Cons: snobby service, dated decor
