We had a large group from out of town who wanted to see NY. We thought a dinner cruise would be a nice idea - and it turned out to be amazing. Group rates start at 20 and we had 19. The whole night was totally enjoyable, from the buffet that was highly organized to avoid lines to the amazing views to the entertainment (which was a little cheesy, but still fun). It's tables of 10 people and a really great way to spend the evening touring NY by water. Just an FYI: We were on the Spirit of NJ (which sails from the same Chelsea location), which I understand is a little less money than the Spirit of NY for the same trip.

I have been on this dinner cruise several times and it has consistently been a pleasant experience. Was introduced to it several years ago when I skeptically attended a company function on a very, very rainy night. Spirit of New York came through like a champ. Didn't feel so much as a ripple on the Hudson River. The last time I attended a function on SONY was during the early fall when the weather was still warm. The boat was docked at Chelsea Piers in NYC and we left at sunset. Cocktails preceded a sit down dinner for about 200 people and it was a wonderful evening. The food was plentiful--several hot and cold serving stations for the appetizers followed by a sit down dinner. Entrees of meat, poultry or vegetarian were available with a dessert. Food and drinks were satisfactory and were served as ordered. The best part of a SONY trip is the cruise around the Hudson where you see the sights of NYC. When the weather is pleasant, the boat has forward and aft open areas with seating to enjoy the view. The Statue of Liberty never fails to bring a hushed silence over the crowd. Would definitely go on this again.
