I researched Chola online and was impressed by the Zagat award for best buffet. I went with a friend and our initial impression upon walking in for the buffet at 2:15pm (a bit late as they close at 3:00pm) was that the selection was extraordinary. I was very excited to try everything. I gave everything a whirl and while the selection was great, I thought the quality could have been a little better. My friend enjoyed the chili chicken immensely. I thought the tandoori chicken was delicious as well. By the end of lunch, there was no Kheer left. It was disappointing that they didn't even bother to put more out. Overall the food was subpar and extremely low quality. I really thought this place was going to be good but unfortunately I can't recommend it to anyone. I'm amazed it was as crowded as it was. The naan was terrible. I don't normally review restaurants but I had to warn others about this one. Pros: Excellent selection of food Cons: A bit crowded and loud

I love Indian food and love to try out Indian restaurants whereever I go but so far chola has been my best experience, their cuisine is unique and very very tasty, their friendly hostess makes u at home instantly, the service is superb and I especially love their little appettizers that are served during lunch...for everyone thats seated. It is trully an eclectic experience. Pros: you will love the food and the service Cons: gets crowded and might have to wait a while esp during lunch

Chola isn't bad, but it isnt great either. Do not expect excellent Indian food, atleast for dinner. They have a diverse menu as far as Indian restaurants go, but that doesn qualify it as a place with good food. I've heard the lunch buffet is better, but as far as dinner is concerned, it was below average. Go with the safe choice and have the Punjabi food...the South Indian was not worth it at all. Good service, nice ambience.

I went with a friend to Chola for dinner after a day of shopping. I love Indian Food and we stumbled upon Chola and liked the atmosphere so decided to give it a try. The people were extremely friendly and the service was top notch. The naan was one of the best i've ever had. We tried the chicken curry which was absolutely decilicous and some vegetable dishes. The food was flavoral and very fresh. I will definitely go to Chola again when I'm in the area. Any Indian food lover should give this place a try! Pros: Great Indian Food with top notch service!

I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and nothng compares to the food, service and completeness in menu choices as does Chola. Despite some of the average reviews on this site, I have to say that Chola far exceeded my expectations during a recent visit with family. The food is superb and authentic unlike other Indian Restaurants. The choices are varied and cover all of Indian cooking from Northern Tandoori and Grilled dishes to Southern Coconut based curries. Once you get a taste of Chola you cannot go back to any other Indian restaurant in the city. I would recemmend Chola to any food connoisseur and to anyone who wants to have a good Indian meal in the city. I wouldn't go anywhere else in NYC if I could help it. Everyone ought to give Chola at least a try and I guarantee you will keep coming back for more. Pros: Great Food Cons: Limited Space so come early

I went to Chola one day to find the charming hostess offer me a warm greeting and a smile. When i looked at the menu, I didn't know Indian food well enough to decide as to where I should start but the waiters quickly relieved me of my indecision and had me on my way to a lovely meal. I ordered baby goat, nan (soft flat bread) and mango lasi. It was probably the best meal I'd had for dinner in ages. The food was well cooked, well seasoned and the service was speedy and helpful. The relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant added to the wonderful food and made the evening that much more magical. Pros: Terrific food, and speedy service Cons: No Cons. just a well rounded experience. good food and helpful service
