We waited almost an hour for a table (group of 8) but it was definitely worth it.
The coffee's strong and the grits are fabulously thick (and I'm... More

Cooking like they do in Texas. I have a thing for cowgirl - and it is not just because of the fun groups that I always seem to sit next to (sometimes it is fun to listen to a table of 10 folks who have have one too many tequilas). The fried chicken is divine. There are lots of "fried" options on the menu. Try to balance your meal out with some non-Frito food as well.
Kitschy, but kitschy in a good way. A fun way.

I love Cowgirl. I started frequenting it when I was in a play at a nearby theatre and it became the after-show drinking destination of choice. And while they have great margaritas (and a great selection there of), their food is also not to be missed if you like good Texas comfort food. The place manages to be warm and friendly to a fabulously diverse crowd (especially at brunch), and I've been told that they are also a dream to work with when it comes to special event planning.

And by that I mean that the world wide known Texas warmness will not be given here. It is, after all, New York (service is generally ver ynice, though). But that's not why you are here. It's for the food, and they do not disappoint.I loved their fried chicken, and I dont' even eat friend chicken often )not at all, really). The mac and cheese was just how I like it, too. I like it simple sometimes. This is a good place to get that.

Inexpensive food and over the top cow girl decor is what's so charming about the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Vegetarians beware -- meat and fried foods dominate the menu. Jack Daniel’s pork chops, hangar steak, chicken fried chicken, and BBQ foods galore are all waiting to be washed down by a mason jar full of fruit-y margaritas.
Cowgirl Hall of Fame sure isn't the classiest food joint on the block but sometimes a gal just has to get herself a bit dirty.
