DTUT is a lounge-y coffee shop, plus, on the Upper East Side - not to be missed is the smores plate where you can roast your own marshmellows.
They've got a great tea and coffee selection and you can sit there for hours. This must be why there is a wide appeal for writers and students who come with their laptops.
You can fairly easily sit at the communal table behind the counter in the middle of the restaurant, but seating is often difficult, if not impossible, to come by.

Given the amount of coffee chains selling an "experience" along with their cup of joe, this one independent establishment actually lives up to that expectation without any promises. A large room filled with couches and comfortable chairs, it makes for a great alternative when you don't feel like meeting friends for a drink.
Along with their coffee and beverages, they have a great array of sugary confections to supplement your caffeine fix. This is a great meeting sport for all sorts of groups - formal and informal. For example, many a Hamptons house share holds court in the back so that potential housemates can meet and great in this relaxed atmospehre. But that isn't to say this is the "Hamptons" kind of crowd; it attracts all different types of people who value this alternative to the Starbucks monopoly of the UES.

Instead of being another Starbucks Dt/Ut is a great neighborhood coffee house filled with old comfy couches and chairs. Get yourself a cup of joe and pick a comfy corner and you can hang out as long as you want. They also have a big table for sharing and a TV tuned to CNN for viewing. Reminds me of the "Central Perk" in Friends.

DT/UT is one of the biggest coffee houses I have been in -- a real treat in the land of Starbucks that Manhattan has become. Pick yourself up a cup of joe and a sugary treat like a blondie or a marshmallow coated concoction and sit back in a big fluffy chair with a book and a smile. They have a booze license, too, if that is more your style.

This funky bar and coffee shop is great for the hip young crowd on the upper east side. They are open until 1 which is not that late on a Saturday night, but their dark mood lighting creates a great ambiance for dates and meeting friends. Their smores and fondue are their specialties. They also have lots of nice cakes and dessert bars with a large selection of coffee and other hot beverages! Also check out the DTUT downtown branch in the East Village.

DTUT is THE place to go for sinful oral pleasure! The aroma of the fresh brewed coffee will draw you in from the busy city streets. It has a coffee house feel with an artsy clientele. It's a little pricey but everything you'll put in your mouth there will be well worth the lifetime it spends on your thighs thereafter!

Going to DTUT is like living an episode of friends. It's just like central perk. The coffee and drinks are great, the wireless internet is free, and the crowd is usually pretty sociable. If you're single, they apparently also have a free dating service similar to drip cafe.
