Great atmosphere. Romantic enough to bring a date (chicks will dig the outside patio with candles, lanterns, and christmas lights) and a chill enough spot to hang with some friends. The menu isn't very veg friendly unless you like mushrooms. Drinks are fairly priced for NYC and seem to be made extra strong which is usually not a bad thing. Its a good spot for brunch which is mostly a young family crowd but the bloody marys are worth it. The french toast and banana nut bread are some of the best i've had. Seems to have had a turn over of staff and managers since i was there last. Def one of my choices when downtown.
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: not enough veg choices

Ok, so I've been here about three times and each time I had a bad experience. So why keep going back? Well, because its in the neighborhood of where I always hang out and well, I guess wishful thinking.. My first time there, my friends and I were ignored the whole time and at the end of the meal we received the wrong check, that just goes to show how ignored we were. My last time there which was very recent, my boyfriend and I couldnt think of where to go so we ended up back at the b bar. It wasn't crowded at all yet the host walked us past about 9 empty tables to sit us all the way in the back, secluded from EVERYTHING! We were outside, where they put those plastic tents up in the winter to keep the air out, yet it was still freezing cold. I'd hate to play the race card, but if the apron fits... Anyway, the food was tasteless, drinks were way too strong, and sodas were weak. This last visit to b bar aka bowery bar will definetly be the last. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. There are so many other hang out spots in New York for real New Yorkers, lets leave b bar for the out of towners.
Pros: space and location
Cons: none

Everytime I've come here with a large group of friends and have had a fabulous time! It's big, with many different rooms so you can move around, or sit at a table. Half of the bar is even an enclosed outdoor space, so you can feel like you're hanging out in your backyard...sort of. If all else fails on a Friday/Saturday night, my friends and I end up here to dance and create debauchery in the east village. Try the bar in the back room, it's usually less crowded then the one by the front entrance.

A couple of weeks ago my friends and I opted to come here for dinner and drinks. The restaurant/bar seemed perfect for outside seating and there was a crowd. Very bad decision on our end. Service was extremely slow. Drinks both tap beer and well took atleast 15 minutes per round (i kid you not!). The steak was stringy, tough and over cooked when I specified medium. The chocolate cake that was ordered never came. They overcharged us for food and drinks. What an awful night! I won't be coming here for awhile.

Once a very trendy it-spot, the crowds remain if not the cachet. It's a shame the customers are so annoying, because the patio is actually a lot of fun. But it really is a horrifying scene on summer weekends, although might be amusing on less busy nights. I hear brunch is good, but it's one of those places that's absolutely mobbed for it.

Funny to think that a former gas station would become this sometimes trendy bar. I am not a fan of the typical night crowd here (lots of finance talk going on it seems), but the large patio is hard to resist on a warm summer Wednesday. The inside isn't as much fun. The crowds change from night to night (and from season to season?) so don't expect the same vibe each time you come.

Good drinks and a really nice patio, but there's not a well-defined bar area and the drinks are pretty expensive. There's also some food that's amazing, like the quesadillas. It'll definitely run you more than neighboring places. I recommend this as a good place to go for a date or to unwind with a few friends after you've already had enough to drink.
