From the outside the atmosphere and menu seemed nice. However, by the time I finally received my food, I wish I never entered the restaurant. Our waitress forgot to place half the order, the management was clueless, and the food was less than desired. Save your time & money by eating somewhere else. A special Surprise on the Upper East Side. It was my turn to head uptown to meet the girls for dinner, and we all enjoyed the place. I was surprised that is was such a downtown spot for the upper East side. Definate dishes to try are the Cavatelli, scottata. Great drink list too! Only downside was that is was raining and we couldn't sit in the garden :-( Pros: Fresh Pastas and Garden Dining Cons: Rain!

I went to Vespa within the first few weeks of it opening and immediately fell in love with it; the food, atmosphere, and service was wonderful. I had not been to Vespa for a few months, and decided to go out for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend last Friday night. Unfortunately, we did not have a wonderful experience. The host had clearly given out waiter way too many tables, as he was impersonal, hurried, and visibly stressed out ( I don't blame him). I had no problem with the waiter at all, until when I asked for extra sauce on the side of my gnocchi, he informed me that the chef would not do that, because "he is a good chef, and good chefs don't need extra sauce." When I explained that it was no problem and to disregard my request, I merely asked because I enjoy their sauce, he left without saying a word, returned a few moments later and said again "The chef refuses to do it." Why this was necessary, I don't know. The waiter was extremely condescending and rude about the entire thing. I say this in a humble way, but I lived in Europe for awhile, and Italy for quite a long time, and did not enjoy him talking down to me about cuisine, especially because he did not even bother to chill our white wine, merely left it on the table without ice, etc. My gnocchi arrived swimming in oil (not merely sauce), and was undercooked and oversalted. However, the salad I had before dinner and the dessert was amazing. Not wanting to ruin my own birthday dinner , I did not say anything and decided to let it go for the sake of the night. However, I thought it was important to write a review because I used to be one of the biggest fans of Vespa and unfortunately they have gotten too big for their britches.

I wasn't so jazzed about my meal but the appetizers were fantastic and we said if we return we will just order several appetizers (tappas style) and share. The make this AMAZING drink with Proseco and some raspberry flavored thing insanely tastey. The courtyard is THE place to sit so I suggest you come her when the weather is good for outside dining. This would be an ideal place for a girls lunch outing or a girls fater work dinner or a date place. Pros: courtyard dining is nice, appetizers are very good Cons: the inside is tiny and cramped

Vespa became mine and my girlfriend's favorite "girl's night out" location. The outdoor area is spacious and private. Our dishes were always amazing, and the cocktails are perfect. The squash blossoms are a must! I was so upset when the colder weather came, because I figured our outdoor dining days were over, but to my surprise they have installed outdoor heaters!! I loved everything about this restaurant and I'm sure you will too!!

We sat in the outdoor garden per a friend's recommendation last week at approx. 9 PM. The lighting was so poor at one point I truly felt I was eating in the dark. We ordered the complete appeteizer which was a little bit of every starter. I truly had difficulty discerning what I was eating. The food, however was fresh and delicious, expected from food needing so little preparation. I followed with a pasta, gnocchi specifically and it was alright. My entree also fell into the so-so category. Not a bad night but for the price, not highly recommended.

I've been to Vespa a few times now and I keep finding myself wanting more. The service is impeccable from the Management to the bus boy. They define the way the service industry in Manhattan should be... above excellence. The food is perfect! Homemade pasta, Mediterranean cuisine that is mouth-watering and good for you. The description on the menu doesn't do justice to the way each bite tastes in your mouth. The bartender makes a mean Mojito. And the ambiance! The garden is so beautiful. Vespa is the all around package for a fantastic dinning experience. Pros: Great service, Ambience, reasonable prices Cons: none
