Appetizer Empanada is very tasty, and meat is juicy and tender. If they ever arrive, that is. (Is it a thing about New York time vs Argentinian time, maybe?) One time, we were told to wait at the bar while the table was being readied. It was only after we ordered our drink were we told that there was no table available for at least an hour. We walked out. Without paying for the drink, of course.

I'm talking about the little six-legged type with long antenaes and a sure clue that things aren't up to snuff in the kitchen!!!!!!!! This site won't allow me to mention them by name, but that's the truth. We've been going to this place for a couple years now with up and down experiences, but we've seen roc-hes each of the last two time we went. The last time we saw two at the same time, told the waiter and left. The first time we figured that it can happen in the best of places, but twice in a row I think the public needs to be warned.
Pros: location
Cons: critters

We had reservations for 5 we were promptly seated and cordially received. But all ended there. We have to ask for bread twice and it took about 20 minutes, someone asked for Sprite and never came, they run out of it, but did not have the courtesy of telling us., We ordered couple cocktails and there were all wrong and when the time to order food came they were out of many of the apetizers (mind you... Saturday at 7:30 OM reservations).
The food was mediocre to be generous; we were offered Argentinean steak, which was actually from Uruguay and it was not cooked to order (two medium and to medium- rear, but all came in well done!) also we ordered gnocchi, but it was stale); some of us ordered wine by the glass and we have to cancell it as we finished the main course and the wine was not in the table.
We were seated at a table by a window, but we asked to have that window closed as it was drafty, but people came over an over to open the window again interrupting any conversation that we may have in spite of a loud speaker.
That is my second experience in that place, and for sure the last; I am sure I will not survive unless drastic changes are made.

Good place to have meat. Not as authentic as other Argentine restaurants (if I recall the parrillada isn't part of the menu). But good for a date.

I had high hopes for this place but from the moment I arrived, the entire experience was one I'd rather forget. The service was probably one of the worst I had ever experienced. Upon arriving at a restaurant, servers, usually greet you with some bread and water on the table. Since it didn't happen here, we went ahead and asked for it. The waiter abrubtly replied "it's on its way" and showed up 25 minutes later with it. Then we asked for some Coke, they didn't have any. Fine... we ordered our appetizers and they showed up with those over 35 minutes later. After finishing our appetizers, 45 additional minutes had past, and still no dinner. Here we were, an hour and 20 minutes at our table and all we had was a piece of cheese and some bread with no sign of our dinner or a waiter. They clearly prioritized larger tables and entirely neglected everyone else. We decided to ask for our check and leave, without dinner. The restaurant's excuse was, "you ordered your steak well-done so it takes longer to cook." As a fellow Argentinean, I couldn't help but laugh and walk away from an extremely unpleasant and borderline insulting experience. I know Argentinean cuisine very well and was very discouraged. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

We have visited Hacienda several times and always found the food tasty and service pleasant. A departure from the usual upper east sushi and Italian this restuarant is a nice option. We have tried almost everything on the menu and all the food is great. Both the quality of the products and the preparation result in delicious meals. We also recommend the cocktails. The service is top notch.

I just love the place and have made it my regular eating place. The first thing that strikes is the wonderful and romantic decor. It makes you feel as if you are in some hacienda in someones house in South America. The food I have had here is second to none. The steaks have always been tender and very flavorful. This would be enough but when you add beautiful staff to this --you get a very romantic evening!
Bravo Hacienda de Argetina!
Pros: Great service, good food and excellent wine
Cons: To far from my house.

The ambiance does not fade into the background as one would expect during dinner. You're surrounded by dark, bold colors, interesting chairs and tables, and lots of large melting candles. The restaurant only has about 10 tables. The empanadas were very good; spicy and flavorful. The steak is ordered by the oz, with a minimum of (I believe) 10 oz. The steak was delicious and priced about what you would expect from a nice steak place. The appetizers and side dishes were very expensive and the portions were small, however, they were very delicious.

Finally somebody got it right a steakhouse which is romantic and comfortable! I came to this resturant because it got "Best new steak house in New York City" in Time out Mag. and I am thrilled I did. One of the most romantic resturants in NYC. What a delight when our food. This resturant truly has the best prime sirloin! No butter like the other top steak houses do in order to trick you that the meat is good. I spoke to the manager who by the is Argentinian and he told me that the meat is grilled not broiled like most to resturants do in order to cheat! The empanadas were great and the gnocci was some of the best I have had! The service was friendly, knowagble and warm. Overall this is a small little gem of a resturant!
