The people that work here should not be in the service industry, period. If they think they are too good for it, they should quit and not ruin people's dining experiences. They all have a chip on their shoulder . we ordered a salad and it came with no dressing. when we asked as to why there was no dressing, instead of an answer we got a glare which eventually turning into a one sided screaming match (by the waiter AND his manager!) where we were asked to leave!!!! you work hard for your money, don't waste it here. plenty of other places to go.
Pros: location
Cons: Service, Food

This was my first time visiting NYC and along with friends we decided to try this place out. It is a cute little place but the food wasn't anything to be excited over. Way overpriced. But the biggest upset was the service. We waited 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and then when we complained to the manager about the waiter he told us to "go ahead and leave him zero tip." The busboy seemed to be more helpful than the waitstaff and management. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want great food and even decent service!
Cons: Service is horrible!

I ate here and it was simply terrible. The atmosphere was decent but when I got the glass of wine I ordered it was terrible! It as barely even drinkable and felt thick and almost syrupy. The salad didn't have any dressing (they set out oil and vinegar on the table for us to dress it ourselves) and was nothing special, it was just a couple lettuce leaves with 3 pieces of tomato and 2 pieces of cold goat chesse...very disappointing. Before the pizza I ordered, I decided to switch up my wine choice and try a different kind and when I got it, it was terrible too! The pizza was ultimate thin crust but not in a good way. I couldn't even pick up a slice because it was so thin and the crust basically crumbled in my hand. The creme brulee for dessert was by far the highlight of my meal. Also, there is a $20 minimum per person which is ridiculous and everything on the menu is extremely overpriced. I would never go there again, it's a waste of money and I don't want to have to try every wine on the list to find a good one.
Pros: Good dessert
Cons: AWFUL wine, terrible food

The pasta here are LOADED with oil and they must use 50% fat beef for the meatballs but they are swimming in fat run off. I've tried the pastas 3 times and all marinara ones are always too oily and salty. I hear this place has good pizza but I have yet to try it. The service here can be very flakey and you'll be rushed out if it's a busy nite.

This was our first (and it will be our only) visit to Mediterraneo and when we looked at the menu, we knew it would be a bad night. The menu states a "$20.00 minimum per person", which is absurd. Anyway, we ordered some fried calimari and drinks to start. The calimari arrived 3 minutes after we ordered it (which is way too fast) and was pub-quality at best, mostly fried batter and not much calimari. The wine my wife ordered was simply terrible. We then ordered two individual "wood-fired" pizzas. When they arrived within 5 minutes, they looked undercooked. The crust was very thin and when I picked up a slice the crust crumbled in my hands. The cheese on the pizza was not bad, but the pizza kept breaking and crumbling and I was left with a plate full of crust. The pizza's were $15 each and it was the worst pizza I have ever had and that includes frozen pizza!
The staff wasn't very attentive, except when they were bringing the food out. If you need something, you have to scream for them to come over, or just wait until they want to come over. The ambience of this place is not that great either: it is basically a bar trying to be an upscale restaurant and it is not working.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is overpriced, the service is bad and the quality of the food is terrible. The city has so many good places to eat. Mediterraneo is not one of them.
Pros: None
Cons: Too many to list

I can't understand any negative reviews for this place. The food is really good, they have a nice wine list, the crowd is lively, and they have great outdoor seating. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a great place to go for dinner and the price is right (not to mention the hot hot hot waiters...where do they find these guys?) By the way, try their gnocchi...very yummy. I happen to like this place because it has a very different vibe from most other Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. It's just a great casual experience without being some cruddy joint. Also, they cook pasta the way it should be cooked. Whoever said that it was "undercooked" has never been to Italy. If you live on the UES give it a shot. You won't be disappointed and it won't break the bank.
Pros: great food, good wine list, nice bar, good service
Cons: sometimes you have to wait a bit for a table...no reservations

My boyfriend and I used to meet here after work because it was so convenient. We absolutely loved our bartender Rachel, SHE TOTALLY ROCKS! However, their wine list left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed a Moscato immensely and looked forward to the time we spent there. However two visits ago, Rachel was on vacation, they had a different bartender (so shy she never introduced herself) and were out of my wine. The next time we went, Rachel was back but when I asked the manager about the moscato, I was told it was discontinued because 'no one' drank it. Sorry DAVID, but I am somebody, and also in the business. I have always done my best to treat everyone as someone. A shame that a place that used to be fun will not see me anymore. I can't believe how stuck on themselves they are. Yes you have been here for years, but if you treat a guest like that, WHY WOULD I WANT TO GO BACK?
