St. Patrick's is an astoundingly beautiful cathedral with hundreds of fascinating architectural, artistic and spiritual details. It is a popular tourist attraction for a reason, even for non0Catholics. Even so, remember that is a working cathedral with daily masses, so please be respectful of the space. This includes avoiding flash photography during masses, speaking quietly and turning your cell phones off. I'm not Catholic, but I do find the space continually worth visiting.

The largest Gothic-style Catholic Cathedral in the United States, St. Patrick's Cathedral is not only a NYC landmark but a national one as well. St. Patrick's Cathedral serves as the seat of the Archbishop of New York and it's gorgeous architecture attracts over three million tourists a year. Services do carry on as they would in any church, though obviously the addition of visiting out of town-ers can make for some interesting moments. Special memorial masses were held at St. Patrick's Cathedral following the deaths of such icons as Joe DiMaggio and Andy Warhol while the likes of Babe Ruth and Celia Cruz have had their funerals here.

St. Patrick's Cathedral is one of the most beautiful places in New York City. Stop by for a break from your busy Manhattan day. Just a quick step inside will give you a little bit of peace. The Cathedral is just as beautiful and magnificant on the outside as it is on the inside. We always bring our out of town visitors here -- you'll see a mix of tourists and locals at St. Patricks. It is most beautiful when it is all decorated at Christmas time. I've never been to a service here, but I've stopped by many times for a moment of peace.

Take a break from busy city life and take a moment for quiet and reflection in grand St. Patrick's Cathedral which sits on Fifth Avenue and is one of the biggest Roman Catholic Churches in the US. Say a prayer and light a real votive at one of the alcoves surrounding the main area. There is a beautiful small chapel in the back that is more private. Many tourists are walking around which is disturbing during services but there is still an overall sense of calm and reverence. Small gift shop in the front.

This outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral is simply amazing, and the inside is no less stunning. You can go inside and light candles or just sit and enjoy soft music almost any time of day. I was amazed at the intricate design of the towering ceilings and the beautiful stained glass - it was like stepping back in time to see it. A must see!
