During my undergraduate years I discovered one of the best-loved restaurants on the Upper West Side: Big Nick's. What's not to love about this place?? They are open nearly 24 hours a day, and the food is good, cheap and plentiful. You can make a meal out of a single slice of their freshly made pizzas. My favorite is the gigantic three cheese calzone, which comes with marinara sauce for dipping. You won't believe how much cheese they stuff into these things! They also have good burgers, pasta and some Greek entrée options. The atmosphere is great, and the wait staff are true professionals. Make sure you look up at the light fixture by the door and notice the whimsical clown face painted on it. This place is truly soul food. Big Nick's also delivers in the area.

The atmosphere is great and the food is absolutley dangerous. I would eat here all the time if I didnt' have the willpower to stay away (I keep it down to once a month). Prices are low compared to other places, there's great value for money (huge portions), but you'd come here anyway even if it wasn't. Enjoy!
