Using a space that used to house an indoor kiddie gym, this is now a prosperous and popular indoor doggie gym. Large windows in the front allow passerbys to watch a handler play with the dogs which are grouped by size. Dogs are taken out for a walk a few times/day and staff will also give medicines except for injections. Membership varies according to which package you choose, for example $250/yr which includes 2 overnight stays and a manicure/pedicure plus $31 for day care (7AM - 7 PM) for a small dog like a Maltese. Grooming, overnights, small shop with pet supplies even an adoption program!

The staff here are great - they really know their stuff. The store has just about everything you would need for your aquarium. They have a great selection and high quality products. You spend a little more than some other places, but you get healthy fish and great advice & tips from the staff. If you own or want to own fish, this is the place to go.

I like Whiskers. I really do. They’re nice there. They take a really concern and remember the locals. And they deliver no matter how many stairs I’ve got. They’ve got a good vet service and adoption team and all sorts of wonderful things. But, they’re expensive and preachy, like most holistic/natural/etc. stores. They sell all the gobbledygook you’d expect that sort of store to sell. Still, I do like going in there and they’re the sort of local business that deserves to be supported. The problem is, PetSmart’s cheaper.

Hydrosurge is a great way to either wash your dog yourself or have it done by an expert. This is not a grooming salon, but just an old fashioned dog washing place. Jay, the owner, has these huge bathtubs mounted on the wall and a wide assortment of shampoos and conditioners for your use. He is a big guy who can handle any kind of dog, including my nintey-pound hound dog. I always have Jay wash Riley himself as it's too much work for me. Riley always comes back to me smelling as sweet as flowers and feeling like satin. He takes good care with the dog's eyes (making sure no shampoo gets in them) and he cleans his ears really well. he has medicated shampoo if your dog has dandruff or other skin issues. He is chatty and quite knowledgable about dogs.

Buddhists all over will love this aquarium. They specialize in importing the Buddha fish. Apparently the story is that after buddha died a part of his soul was left in this type of fish. The fish has orange spots on his stomach and is recognized by the huge bump on the forehead. If you're serious about purchasing a fish be prepared because some of these go for well other a thousand dollars each. Other than the buddha fish, the rest of the store is quite dull without much variety. Definately a specialty shop for the serious hobbyist.

An "old school" pet shop that's a welcome change from the chains. The owner, Anne, has had this store for many decades and has a big following of pet owners who've known her through many pets. There are animal customers' pictures all over the store. A tiny shop, it's filled floor to ceiling with food, toys, vitamins, etc. Limited space necessitates frequent deliveries, so the food is always the freshest. In the back of the store is the grooming area. Anne only allows one dog at a time (less stressful for the dogs) and owners book way in advance for her services. Even dogs who've moved out of the neighborhood come back when it's time for a haircut.
