Came to Sapa on a very nice evening out. This Asian inspired French restaurant was abso;lutely delightful. Everyone who seemed to be working there was happy, all the clients were more than happy, and I was more than happy with the food and service. Definitely come here on a nice date, for a birthday, or just to relax and have some great food.

This is definitely a special occasion spot, unless you don't mind a hefty bill, but rest assured that either way, it's well worth it. The great reviews certainly are there for a reason (and rightfully so). The dining room is always packed with fresh flowers; the smell is wonderful. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. As for the food, I suggest being brave and trying something you wouldn't normally eat. Sure, their steak frites is delicious. Even though I was VERY happy with my steak, after trying the different dishes from the girls at my table, I wish I had opted for something more unique. This was truly an awesome dining experience.

We went there for happy hour on Friday about two weeks ago. The front section was all taken even though it was only 5:45pm. We grabbed a seat at the roll bar while waiting for the rest of the party. We tried almost everything (food) on the menu and it all came out pretty good. Oysters were only a dollar a piece, and the potato knish with caviar & creme fraiche was delicious. The special cocktail of the night was Barcardi Sunrise, which was way too sweet for me so I ordered the special white wine for my second around. I am glad that I was sitting down when the drink came since the moment I raised the glass and saw it through the light from the roll bar, I saw TONS of lip marks on the glass rim - NOT JUST ONE.. but ALL AROUND!!!!!!! I couldn't find our waiter so we got the manager who happened to be nearby. He apologized and got me another glass, but without any offer or whatsoever. This is a very nice and elegant place and I expected them to be better on customer service. Honestly, I will go back since I do like this place a lot, but I would definitely be very cautious before putting anything near my mouth.
Pros: Good Happy Hour
Cons: Could be very noisy

I usually go for the 5 dollar happy hour (yoga teacher in trainig) it fits the budget... but that said, it is a classy place. The decor is delicious and the bartenders once they see you around a bit are quite gregarious. They make you feel comforable like hey, it's quite all right to sit there was past happy hour with out ordering a lot of drinks. I try to recommend it to anyone in the area and I have gone on several after work outings. Good music, too.... Check it out. It won't disappoint especially when you walk in and think oh dear this could be attitude city but not. Good stuff.
Pros: all good
Cons: no bad

Sapa is quietly situated along West 24th street, but once you open the door, you enter a beautiful atmosphere of style that doesn't reek of IKEA and 1990s. That said, you're not greeted very warmly by the hosts and that puts a dent in the charm. Once you're seated, it is a different story. I've eaten at Sapa many times and even had a birthday party there. I'm so impressed with the simplicity and confidence of the dishes, that you can easily spend 2 to 3 hours dining from starters through dessert. The wine list is just as confident as well with perfect opportunities to explore your pallet. In the last visit we had a long delay on the sides we ordered. While the management moved quickly to resolve the issue, there wasn't any explanation given about it. Overall, however, it is worth overlooking the faux pas as this Asian-Fusion adventure was well worth an evening out.

We had a group of 5 for dinner on a Sunday evening before an event at MSG. This place takes itself seriously (even calling me on the morning of the reservation to confirm or cancel - the restaurant was completely empty at 5:30 on a Sunday, so it's not like they were booked out!). The decor and ambience are great, but the food was very disappointing. All of our party complained their meals were heavy, with liberal use of salt. Not sure I'd go back to eat - nice place for a show-off cocktail though.
Pros: Be seen here - trendy place
Cons: Disappointing food on the night we were there.

So with a group of a dozen, we enjoyed a lovely Saturday night at Sapa?s. Let?s start off with cocktails? I highly recommend the Cosmojito, Ginger?s Passion Margarita, Lychee Bellini and Sapa Mint Lemonade. They were all refreshing and quite delicious. Then came the food and I hate to admit this, but I expected a bit more. I?ve been to Patricia Yeo?s two other Manhattan restaurants and came away impressed. This time? not so much. I had the Grilled Maya Prawns which were very good, but the Soy Ginger Steamed Fish entree seemed to lack an element of sorts. It was decent, but not delectable. The desserts were enjoyable though. We shared the Pistachio Creme Brulee and ice cream. The ambience was chill and fun, which is what really made the night.. as well as a visit from Chef Patricia Yeo.
Pros: great ambience, good service
Cons: for the price and hype, the food was a tad bit unimpressive

Great ambiance led me to expect great service and food. I experienced neither, in fact, the very opposite.
The service was really slow. We were seated at 9pm on a Wednesday night, it took 20-30 minutes for us to receive our drinks. The server was very unknowledgeable about the wine list and not very helpful, she became flustered and eventually rude. The food I ordered, a seared tuna, was small for the price and very salty.
With all of the amazing restaurants in NYC, I would not recommend this one.
