Everyone really enjoyed themselves, the place is lively, great crowd, we ordered a number of tapas for the table and were impressed with everything that came out. I've lived in the East Village now for 4 years and I can't believe I didn't know about this place until now!! I recenlty joined the blogging world (now that I am with out a job and have more time on my hands) and decided to check it out based upon its rave reviews. I was not disappointed! Excellent ambiance, the music, the artwork, the candle lit place with mirrors all around... great for a romantic randezvous or group dinner with friends/colleagues. There are a variety of great tapas that could please pretty much anybody... meats, seafood, veggie... respectively the duck meatballs (euphoric, mmm), the calamari (grilled, not fried, tantalizing!) and the sauteeed mushrooms (with Sherry, dessert wine, so tasteful). Top cheese dish: goat cheeseballs, just fabulous! Everything was fairly priced and you have a lot of options if you are on a budget! Service was great too... young, fun waiters/waitresses working there, lots of good energy flowing. Kind of felt like I was in some exotic foreign cave somewhere... I wonder if that's what it's like in Basque country... if so I'm on the next flight!

Euzkadi is the best place to go for a good business lunch. Gave it a shot... and I am desperately looking to go back. Aside from the atmosphere , the service was impeccable, as was the wine selection. I love my cheese plates - the selection of Spanish cheeses here was amazing, and I had the Grilled Pimenton Pork Chop, it was perfect too. Anyway, I was only there for lunch, and I had to pay attention to the vendor I was taking out for lunch, so I didn't get to savor this place as much as I would have liked. So...next time: dinner. I went for dinner with some friends and loved the atmosphere and food so much I came back again for my birthday with a bunch of friends. Make sure to share some tapas - loved the avocado feta cheese, goat cheese w honey and the seafood salad tapas. The service was great and very accommodating. I am a stickler about getting my water and it arrived promptly after we were seated. The lamb was my favorite and the red wine recommendation went really well with it! I will definitely come back and highly recommend Euzkadi to anyone who is looking for a warm, cozy place to come to for dinner or to have a fun birthday party with a nice mix of music playing in the background. It's been a while since I've been in this part of Manhattan and Euzkadi is a great reason to drop by. We went and were seated promptly. Around the time there weren't that many tables filled but within 30 minutes it got pretty crowded. We decided to order several tapas instead of going with their signature palleala. The tapas were great and the rioja we had complimented the meal nicely. Space was a little tight but the food was delicious. Though at one point it was hard getting the attention of the waiters because of how busy it got. Overall a good experience. Pros: Food Cons: Tight Space, Crowded

We reserved nearly a month in advance for a large group. We were seated by the door and had to flail to attract attention to order sangria. While we waited for our last arrival, the server informed us that anyone who planned to order paella HAD to order it ASAP. We had not ordered our appetizers yet and tried to defer, but he insisted, so two couples ordered the paella for two. We then placed orders for several appetizers. Before they had even arrived, he told us the paellas were ready, and no, they couldn't wait for us. So he served the paellas. We four had to eat our dinners as the others had some appetizers. Their entrees arrived over a half hour after that. No one apologized and he seemed if anything more surly the more inconvenienced he made us. Would not go back. Pros: Tasty Cons: Awful awful service

So we went to Euzkadi for a birthday celebration. We were a party of 6, some of whom are fairly picky eaters. The Maitre d' seated us in the back round table. We said it was too crowed and he offered to reseat us. We played musical chairs and wound right back where we started with only a bemused look by the staff. I mention this only because some other reviews said the staff was haughty. The food was hands down fabulous. The paella was great. The chorizo appetizer was rich in smoky pimenton. The muscles we fresh and cooked to perfection. That appetizer thingy that combines avocado with feta cheese on toast was divine. They also had a great selection of wine with two of my favorite whites: Albarino and a Txocali (or Txocalino in Basque) What I think one need to be aware of is the cultural difference in a place like this. It is European and the service IS going to be a little slower than the typical New York restaurant where you have one wait staff for every 3 tables. When all was said and done dinner for 6 with 3 bottles of wine and three deserts came to $388 or $129 a couple. We thought that was a great price considering the quality. If you allow yourself 2 hours for a leisurely dinner and come with a love of food you?ll not be disappointed. Come here when the place is slammed and an attitude about service and you?re likely to be disappointed. On second thought, don?t come here? that way it will be less crowded when I come back!
